Yes, from what I gather from the AB board, Connie is now calling herself by a new name, and calling herself 'blind acres'. she is actively seeking funding for the one she took first called Grandpa.

Sometimes euthanasia is the best option...................
Let us know if there is a paypal address to send donations to.
Glad Chocolatemoose was able to help and wasn't afraid to get involved.

The old gelding is now running free in the pastures of heaven.....
Chocolatemoose's vet was horrified when she saw the horse and how much pain he was in. They sedated him lightly in order to get him out of the stall. It took 20 minutes just to move him out of the stall. He fell down in the barn aisle. They put him to rest at that point.
Final bill came to $160. Pledges thus far are as follows:
$50 watermarkfarm $25 afinenettle $25 frr2
TOTAL: $100 NEEDED: $60
Please post here if you can contribute, and I will PM you with Chocolatemoose's mailing address, and you can mail her a check. Sorry, no paypal.
Big hug to Chocolatemoose/Brenda for all she has done. She has been dealing with this situation for weeks. She is responsible for getting 4 horses out of there thus far. This morning's events were very hard for her.
There are 5 more horses there. They are in great danger at this point, as they are owned by the same person who let this gelding get so far gone. They are located in Vacaville, CA:
--Percheron stud colt, approx 2 years old --one-eyed pony --several sweet Arab mares, one possibly pregnant
Chocolatemoose reports the above are in decent condition. Please contact her ASAP if you can take one.
Thanks, Katie

Is the owner of these horses that let this happen going to be prosecuted at all? This is completely unacceptable - for ANY reason. Sara in WA

Actually, it wasn't SAFE that took him, it was Lornsadoon from this board... she found him a nice home and you can read about it here... SAFE does have a thread on him in their "other horses" section, much like the RO board has threads about horses from all over the place. rescuesonly.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=1179090010&page=2However, there are a lot of nice horses that have been saved by SAFE and are available for adoption I think, if anyone was wanting to take a look at them... Yes, Tash is right. It was ME who went and got Morph in Corvallis. It was ME who found him a good and loving home. It is ME who checks on him to make sure he is fine. Which by the way, he is. And it is ME, who will take him back if ever the need arises. He will never fall through the cracks again. The gal that took him just happens to be a member of the SAFE bulletin board and is a SAFE adopter also. They did not help with his re-rescue, neither did CBER.

You really did lorasdoon! It was so frustrating that we offered to take him back to WA, all she had to do was say OK, but she was getting money from 3 boards to take care of him and said no.

I wanted to thank everyone for there donations. I really appreciate you all. The owner of the property has informed me that Carimda needs to be responsible for disposing of this horse. I have never seen a horse be put to sleep, but I know in my heart that he is running free and not in pain anymore. The horses that are at the property are in good condition, but I believe at some point they will have to be moved. Unfortunately it is not my decision to do anything with them at this time. If they cant take care of them I will post them on the board. Again thank you all, Brenda

Wow, what a story. I'm so sorry you had to go through all of this. I think it is important to note, and to learn from this, that we all need to remember to not take on more than what you can handle.

Connie had taken some pictures of "Thunder" when we arrived at the barn. They are posted on the AB board under "Thunder Rolls may he rest in peace" You all can see what his feet look like and how much pain he was in. She also cut off some of his mane and is going to make me a dream catcher with it. I will allways remember today.
