~ Shipped to slaughter 10/26/07 ~SHERRYAge: 11 Height: 14'0 Sex: Mare Breed: Arabian x American Quarter Horse Adoption Fee: $310.00 Contact Placement Specialist - Shawna: tufnspendy@aol.comSherry is a 11 year old mare, we were not able to catch her, she was curious but not wanting to be caught. The killbuyer said that he was told she was rode at one time, but we are unable to catch her to find out. She would most likely have to be chute run to get into a trailer. She is as cute as can be, but I suspect is very very very spoiled. I didn't want to list this mare, but we are her only chance. So if someone is wanting a overweight, curious, hard to catch mare.. THis is her. She is as cute as can be, but SPOILED.

I have to say sometimes with arabians/QH they are totally different once taken out of a stressful situation and being at the kb place is out of element and I think the know their possible fate. I have seen this in there eyes at auction. A arab mare I bought at auction was said to be crazy I did not want her someone told me that works the auction., she just needed to go for meat. I just knew different now at home with us she is the sweetest girl first to come to the gate to see you not a crazy thought to her. So I think Sherry just needs to be given a chance and earn people trust back. She is a very cute mare and just needs someone to love her again. I just looked at her pic again take a look at her tight muzzle she is scared thats all. Marie

I have one who could be her brother, and he is just like that. very easy keeper, and scared at new places... but dang, he LOVES my daughter, would do anything for her! He is a gem... some issues, but a gem anyway... she needs a safe home. that's it.

You would not catch me if I were a horse at a feedlot. But I am still loyal, faithful and true. Sometimes you need to observe more before you will ptu yourself in a vulnerable sitution...........if you are SMART.........like ARABS... ;D ;D ;D ;D

She is so sweet looking, just scared!! Please someone help her and offer her a home. I have had arabs for 20+ years and they are so smart. Let's change her fate. She needs us!! She will probaly be your best friend once she learns to trust again! I have been there with an arab mare I rescued! She had to trust me before she came around! It took time but it was time well worth the wait. She was extremely abused mentally! She is reason I know about slaughter and all the ugly stuff that goes with it. She was also my first rescue and when I rescued her I never knew any of this went on until that day at that auction. I bought her the day after. Her and others were sitting there in a pin outside. I saw her late that night. I asked why all those horses were getting ran on cement out to a holding area. I was told why and I couldn't believe it. I got up and hurried over there hoping it wasn't too late. I tried to save another one but they wouldn't sell her to me. She was a yearling with a broken or deformed ankle. The truck was on there way to get them. So I got her out of there immediatly. Sherry reminds me of her and the same look in her eyes. She just needs someome to care about her and give her the time to come around. When she does she will be just as greatful as you will be when you get her too! Please give her a chance!

Is there any interest in her? Please somone help her!!! There has been ZERO interest..I know I didnt make her sound very wonderful, but I am brutally honest in my assessments, that way no one is surprised or disappointed with the horse they adopt. I'm a firm believer in give the facts/truth & no one is surprised or hurt. I honestly hope someone gives her a chance, I don't look forward to trying to load her in the trailer, but I'm up for the challenge.

She has the look my Arab got when he was scared, unsure and/or overstimulated. She looks like she's being protective, besides being very uncomfortable in her surroundings. Considering where she is, and the sensitivity of Arabians, it didn't surprise me to read her description. She probably just needs a steady, peaceful environment and the opportunity to put down roots, and relax. Doesn't make her a bad horse. Just a rightfully scared one. Saying prayers for you, too, Sherry, that someone gives you a chance before the truck arrives to affirm all you thought about humankind. She also has the look of a horse that's been let down. I always can't help wondering if they had nothing before the lot, or, if they had love and comfort and then lost it all. I'm not sure which would be worse. Em

You know.. a lot of the horses that ship are well trained horses that will do anything that you want...but the horses with trouble written all over them always find homes first. Why is she an exception to this harsh fact??

These horses need help!!! They are breaking my heart! If I had the room I would take her in an instant but I don't. She needs someone to love. Is anyone want to help her? Look at her, she is so cute and is begging for a forever home. Let's get all these horses to safety before it's too late.

Let me speak here........I have Duke and Little R with me now. They were from this feedlot. This feedlot owner ships direct to Mexico. IF A HORSE stands out to him and looks like they really, really should not be shipped, he pulls them out and brings them here to give them a chance. If you saw and were in the company of Duke and Little R, you would understand that the feedlot owner has one amazing eye, for the horses he pulls out are nothing short of awesome. They are special and gifted and stood out to a TRAINED eye through the midst of hundreds. So, if you are wanting a horse, trust that these horses are above and beyond what what the photos and write ups show. I have the proof and you could not buy Duke, my (Captain Jack Sparrow) for a million bucks, I kid you not. Little R (Pocohantas) already has a line up of people begging for her. Trust me, these are special, special horses. Give them the chance, even our most disliked person on earth did!

Ebony -- I thought worm belly too. She looks bloated-fat, instead of meaty-fat, at least to me. My mustang arrived the same way, and even Cloud looked that way too. Only difference though, is that Sherry has no ribs showing.
I was wondering if she put on weight because of her hooves -- I wince looking at those hooves of hers, she desperately needs a trim. If her feet are hurting her, she wouldn't be as active ...
I am praying she got lucky, and someone is taking her.
Just big thanks again for posting all those threads for the horses.
Em

Heart breaking. I was so hoping, out of this last bunch, she'd get her second chance.
I hope your journey is a blur, Sherry, until you arrive on the other side. : (
You were loved, even if from afar, and you mattered very much.
Godspeed, Sherry.
