This is very hard for me to write, but I thought it important that we remember a very special guy, so I am sharing with you who care about the horses... I hope your thoughts fly to him and empower him in the heavens.
The sun was shining and it was so beautiful out and we said a good bye to a wonderful horse warrior known as Diesel. He came to us about 18 months ago as a rescue horse that was not placed due to his huge oral tumor and sarcoids. He was lovingly cared for and he had the chance to live out a couple beautiful warm summers on pasture as a natural horse with a compatible herd. He LOVED his senior feed and treats and and the vet was amazed at how he had turned around physically ( weight wise and mentally) from the thin and depressed guy we took in. He was a robust big horse who must have looked incredible in his blue grulla coat in his younger days. Unfortunately the last few months his tumors had become very very aggressive, spreading rapidly and were beginning to interfere with his vision and eating. We had had them surgically removed before and also used xxterra and other products on them that worked for a while, but they came back worse and worse and the vet felt it had gone thruout his system. They had proliferated in other areas that could not be operated on and he was old. The time came to let him go before he got worse and while it was very difficult for us, he went peacefully, eating grain and being petted and loved on. I spent about an hour before the vet got here brushing him, talking to him and feeding him his special food he loved. Please think of him, buff and strong, running in greener pastures. I am crying for him but he at least had a last peaceful, happy part of his life after serving people. Thanks for listening, he truly became a part of our lives and my husband and I miss seeing him out the window.
