So I just adopted Savannah. I have never done this before. My local rescue people are going to kill me for not taking in someone here but I could not help my self. So what is the best way to get her from WA to CA? Oh ya, and the least expensive.

Have you used them before. What do they haul the horses in?

Hi Jennifer, I've used them twice, but my horses were dropped off at a dropoff spot, so I did not see their trailer. I'm in northern Cali and both my horses were in great condition when they got here. I'd recommend Sharon.

Jennifer Meeker!
It's Katie from Santa Rosa. Faraway Horse Transport (they are on RO --- look under transportation resources thread, they post here all the time) is good. Prices will run you $450-$500 Yakima to Sebastopol.
I *might* end up taking Toly. If we could get another horse to come down, we could also look into chartering a local hauler to make a quick trip up.
Also, sometimes people from this board make trips up and down. Ask around.

I've also used Sharon and David Linarez three times, and they're great. They stop multiple times to give the horses a break, water, and feed. They have a 350 Ford truck and a Exiss 4 horse slant, which is really easy to load, a step up. Nice rig. David is very gentle with the horses. I used to use Bob Hubbard Transport, but I use the Linarez' exclusively now, and the price is very reasonable.

I gave them a call to set up the transport in 30 days. Now were to put her. What type of temp. fencing hot wire is easy. I think I'll check with Sam and find out what she's like with fencing. I have hot wire up already away from the others. But dog stomping is a concern. Sam said she has dogs. I wonder if she would be willing to do the stomp test. That sound really sick, sorry.

Katie and Jennifer,
Aragon is coming to me so he will be going to Harvest Moon Ranch. Let's get our heads together about the best way. I just spoke to Sharon and I am scheduled to talk with her this week about details.
Katie, please see your PM's

Lou and Jennifer --
Pay Day came down with the Linarez' and they did a good job with him. I would check with them as they know the whole CBER routine and work with Sam regularly, and they are making the trip weekly in April.
Another thing I've done before is to charter a hauler. We could check with Scotty Crandall and see what he'd charge to make a run to Yakima and back. It might be about the same, and the advantage is you get a very fast trip back for the horse. His # is 707-373-7806. I would trust Scotty to haul my children (well not really).
I don't know if I will end up with Toly, but if I do have to bring him to CA, I will be needing shipping same time as you ladies. I am hoping Toly will be adopted in WA.

When do you find out if you are getting Toly? I have used Scotty and love him? Is him the correct word? If we bring 3 horses down Scotty maybe the way to go if um he is available.

I referred to him as "him" in his presence and he didn't correct me, so I guess it's the correct word! And I can vouch for both the Linarez' and Scottie, both have hauled for me and done great jobs.

Not sure Jennifer. I am his backup and will only take him if no one adopts while in 30 day QT.
Simplest thing by far is to line up your mare with Sharon Linarez, Lou's horse too. That's what I would do.
If there is a third horse for sure going to Sonoma Co., then call Scotty for a quote.

I think either is OK. The boobs are real, in case you were wondering...I asked. We had a whole conversation about them being too high. And he dates women.
Ken loves Scotty. I swear, they thump their chests, adjust their "packages" (those hot pants don't lie), chug beer and talk horses and diesel motors. I feel left out.
For those who are wondering....we are talking about our awesome hauler, who is of the "transgender" variety.

Sharon and Dave have a nice rig and are really sweet. Unfortunately we usually end up with more then one to bring down, or someone wild and end up going up to fetch them ourselves. Of course with the cost of diesel these days (am I imagining it or has it really gone up 5 cents every day in the last week? ?)

Dave & Sharon are absolutely awesome, I wouldn't hesistate to send any horse I own with them. They show up when they saw they are going to, are very intune to the horses individual needs & overall just great people. They make transport Easy, not difficult.

I call Scotty a her in his presence. I love him too. He dates women how strange. What am I saying Scotty Strange those words can not go together, Scottly/Strange. LOL. Sam at OT gave me the name and number of the guy that dumped Savannah and I talked to him. I put up a new thread about it. Not too exciting but I am feeling good about getting a horse I don't know. From what he said she should work out well here.

From what he said she should work out well here. Ive known a few transgender folks. They go through alot to find their heart felt identity. I know it means alot to them to have people call them the gender they identify with.... I saw your post about Savannah. I cant wait to see her someday. She is soooo cute! I tell ya - we nab the good-lookin' ones down here in Sonoma County!! And I wonder if anyone would want to join me in a letter/email campaign to breeders in general. I mean those that are really trying to make money at it. A nice respectful non-demonizing letter......

Yes, I am interested in the letter thing. I have huge issues with breeders.
