Ride With The Best

Each clinician has specific profiles for the horses and/or riders they would like to teach or use to demonstrate a particular skill or training process. All interested riders are encouraged to apply, as they may be just what the clinicians have in mind!

Selected candidates can obtain valuable and memorable learning experiences for very reasonable clinic participation fees, which range from $50 - $75 for a single clinic. The fees include admission to Equine Affaire, clinic instruction, and stabling.

Equine Affaire and Craig Cameron will join together to present The Extreme Cowboy Race™. As seen on RFD-TV, this will be a competition in which horses and riders work through an obstacle course while being timed and judged on their abilities. The course will be designed to push horses and riders out of their traditional comfort zones, to test communication, horsemanship skills, and athletic abilities. Spectators will find the competition exciting to watch as competitors pursue the title of "Extreme Cowboy Race™ Champion." Top competitors will receive $4250 in cash and other great prizes, including a saddle package from JT International Dist., Inc.

Volunteers are essential to the success of Equine Affaire, and volunteering is a great way to meet other horse enthusiasts and get a different perspective on the event. Opportunities to get involved as a volunteer include assisting in the Information Booth, Raffle Center, Youth Pavilion, or Barn Office; assisting with clinic arena equipment; cleaning stalls; selling programs; and assisting with setting up and tearing down the event.

How does it work?
Work two hours to earn one day's admission.
Work eight hours or more to earn a four-day show pass
Work six hours or more and earn an official Equine Affaire T-shirt

Kathleen's background is hunter/jumper, but it isn't the only thing she does........

Kathleen focus' on whatever each rider wants to work on - each rider gets an hour with Kathleen, and then another hour with Kyya (another student of Mark Rashids). In September, Tonisha worked on ground driving Nitro, then saddling him. I worked on 'starting' Doodle - he had 30 days with a trainer, but that isn't nearly enough, so we kinda went thru all the steps of starting a horse to make sure there weren't any holes. Then we worked on Walk/trot transitions. But people have worked on Trailer loading, transitions, standing at the mounting block, leading safely, jumping, trail obstacles, putting a bridle on, confidence issues (horse or rider) saddling/cinching, whatever the rider wants to work on..........it could literally be anything.

I *love* this format because I know I am going to get what I want out of it.......

Both clinics at my house are full, but I have a short waiting list if anyone is interested in being put on the waiting list. And Auditors are welcome!

Do you know if she is having anymore in Oregon and what she charges?

The only other clinic she is doing in 2008 is in Rogue River, and I don't know if that one is full or not.............

The cost depends on the venue, if Kyya is also there, etc. My clinics are $515 for three days, and I provide most of the food/drinks/snacks/water, etc. Auditing is $25 a day. She isn't doing any clinics in WA this year.

Special Events at Equine Affaire

Craig Cameron will be conducting his Extreme Cowboy Race™ as seen on RFD-TV. Horses and riders will work through an obstacle course while being timed and judged on their abilities. Watch the excitement as these teams compete to win $4250 in cash and prizes, including a saddle package from JT International Dist. Inc., as well as earn the title of Extreme Cowboy Race Champion.


California Desperados and Victor Penner will present Cowboy Mounted Shooting on Thursday evening.


The Celebrity Horse Showcase, in the Youth Pavilion, will feature:
Colorado, an 11-year-old bay Spanish mustang gelding owned by singer/songwriter Sheryl Crow. Born wild in the mountains of southern Montana, he was the son of Shaman, one of the most beautiful and hardy stallions of the Pryor Mountain herd. Although he is still in training to become an exhibition horse, he will make his debut at Equine Affaire with Imagine A Horse.
Shy Boy, a bay mustang owned by Monty Roberts. Rounded up by the Bureau of Land Management, Shy Boy was to be the focal point of a bold experiment: could Monty, the "man who listens to horses," achieve Join-Up® in the wild? He is known to millions of viewers of te BBC/PBS series and the New York Times best-selling book. He's so popular that Breyer® created a Shy Boy model horse for collectors.
Blanco, a 16-year-old grey Andalusian, is best known for his role as wizard Gandalf the White's legendary horse Shadowfax in the Lord of the Rings movies The Two Towers and Return of the King. He has also been featured in the well-known Hercules TV series, numerous commercials and the soon to be released Hercules movie.
TC Bey Cedar, a 13-year-old black Arabian stallion, is best known for his role as Al Hattal in the Walt Disney movie Hildago. He has a number of show ring accolades to his credit as well as holding the title of the Official Breed Ambassador for the Arabian Horse Association of Northern California.


The radio show Speaking of Horses with Wayne Williams will broadcast live from Booth B28 in Building 10 for the duration of the event, complete with presenter and attendee interviews.
