Starbuck aka Bucky-boy aka the bucker Bucker is resting up for his trip home. After hanging around at my place since last winter Starbuck is going to go live with his family in Yakima next month.

Echo spent most of last year with CountryGirl in Kennewick. Echo and her foal, CG's first ever delivery, lived at CG's for most of last year. When Phoenix was ready to be on his own Echo went to Ellensburg for 45 days training and then home to my place. She is a very nice horse and we have high hopes for her. This is Echo with CountryGirl last summer.

Starbuck was one of my alltime favorite boys from the feedlot...does he still think he's hot stuff? He has a new family? Do we know them or should we invite them to the board so they can update....? And actually, I thought Echo was always stunning too...she cleaned up beautifully.

I've just been boarding Starbuck for Sue - Bayside on this board. She has always owned him. I'm sure when he gets to her new place there will be plenty of updating going on. :-)
Echo is pretty and Sue - CountryGirl - did a great job getting her to like people.

I have Teddie (Pilgrim at the lot) and she had a foal last March that was named Wind Dancer. This is Dancer a few months ago. She is alot bigger now. After a year of rest and raising her foal, Teddie just entered training. She is doing wonderfully. I have found out that she is 9 years old. This is according to the brand on her back, which indicated what year she was actually used to buck. I also know Teddie is a mix of Quarter horse, Throughbred and Draft.

So glad to see updates on these horses. Thanks carolyn- I have often wondered about Laramie and Cheyenne. How are they doing? On a side note... anyone heard anything about Clea and the other horses adopted to (her name has momentarily slipped my mind) B.C., Canada? She adopted quite a few horses from CBER. I'd love to hear more updates on these bucking stock since they were some of the high risk adoptions.

Here's Handsome: After almost a year of detox and healing, he's begun training with Angi K., formerly of Lifesavers Mustang Rescue in Lancaster, CA. This photo was taken during his first training session. Now, after several more days of training, he's worn a halter, leads a little, can be touched almost all over, and has had the essential vet and farrier work he's needed for so long.

My husband decided that Handsome was his horse sometime late last year. My husband is not a horsey person, at all, but has really been key to gentling Handsome. He (husband) goes out to visit H. at least once or twice every day, taking him carrots and apples, and has eventually worn down his resistance. Husband trades goodies for touches, and almost always gets Handsome to submit to a hug around the neck before the session is over. It's kind of cute to watch the "work" . Handsome rests his enormous head on husband's shoulder while waiting for husband to bite off another piece of carrot and give it to him. Handsome has never been aggressive with my husband, although you can tell he wants his goodies NOW. Handsome, after he got over the idea that we were grizzlies who intended to eat him, has never shown any aggression toward us. I wouldn't put him in a corner, of course, but he's been a surprisingly good guy, all things considered. PS--I forgot to tell you that Handsome plays! His BFF is Robert, and they mess around with one another over the fence, out in the field, just whenever they're together and aren't eating. Robert and H conspire to remove and destroy Robert's grazing muzzles. Robert is a big WB, over 16hh, so they make quite a pair when they're being goofy. ;D

Carolyn it absolutely makes tears comes to my eyes to see these pictures! I remember when she was listed by CBER and thinking she had very little chance of being placed. She had such a fearful look in her eye at that time. I would never have believed it was the same horse to see these pictures. Thank you so much for the patience and kindness you have shown to her. I look forward to your updates and what an accomplishment for you both! GREAT JOB!
