I contacted Wendy, she said they'd keep me in mind. I really really like Murphy, and Barker too, I hope this happens! I'd love to have one of them if not both. Murphy would match my appy mare, I'd love to have them out on the trail together. But a gaited horse is pretty neat too! I'm trying not to get too emotionally involved though. They're both so nice I bet they'll find outright adoption homes.
I can go to the feedlot tomorrow (Sunday) if need be. I don't want them to go on the truck on Monday!

Just found something hopeful about stifle "catching"
From www.triple-s-ranch.com/kentucky_ranch_operations.htm
"If your horse does develop soreness in the stifle due to the catching of the medial patellar ligament, call your equine veterinarian. There are several therapies developed in recent years that can provide substantial benefit, and together with the right exercise program, can banish this syndrome from recurring. They include rest, joint injections, shock wave therapy, and a procedure called medial patellar ligament "splitting"."

Is there anyone out there with extra cash burning a hole in their pocket that would like to help out with Murphy? I'll give him a home or cheer you on if you adopt him and take him home! He has a lot left to give to someone.

When I went to get Hank (Aston) I took a look at Murphy and dropped a jaw, this guy is so darn fine! Hank took up a whole two horse trailer himself or Murphy would have been secreted out with him.
I hope someone rescues this guy. I am out of space and $-but out there is the perfect home.

Re: Murphy - $775 Needed- Has Home Offer
Post by wendyluvsallhorses on Sept 17, 2006, 8:22am
I was in the same situation you were syndi! I SO wanted to load him up and especially since Mulligan was his buddy. But Mulligan was so long and tall I just wasn't sure I could fit Murphy in there too.
It was very rough to leave Murphy there when he was calling to Mulligan as we were loading up. Mulligan was pretty antsy too as he knew he was leaving Murphy. I know he'll settle in with the other horses, but his new owner (poor sappy me) can't seem to get Murphy's poor sad face outta her head! So, now I'm on the rampage to raise $$ for him and get him a home. He deserves it!

Re: Murphy - $775 Needed- Has Home Offer
Post by syndi on Sept 17, 2006, 8:27am
Wow, good luck I would help but can't this time around.
When I picked up Panik (Jessica) there was a horse down at the lot who screamed and threw a fit when we loaded her up. FLO moved the horse to calm it down before I saw it-he said we had just taken the horses frien. A week later I am down getting Hank (Aston) and it turns out he was the horse throwing the fit the week before. They are both happy and together now, funny how things work out. Being on the lot is bad enough, but loosing a friend on top of that stinks.
Good luck getting the funds, I hope that Mulligan and Murphy end up with the same happy ending as Panik and Hank

That's great that you brought home Jessica's friend, Hank. I'm sure they were happy to see each other again. I had my eye on Hank too! I think you were the one that got Freedom as well, right? I was checking him out while my adoption application was processing.
I have a feeling you and I are going to need to battle over Appy's in the future!
In the meantime, does anyone want to help out Murphy? I'd hate to tell Mulligan his friend didn't make it to a new home.

My son Dakota got Freedom. He has Salty also. Freedom looks like an entirely different horse now.
I don't think there will any horse battles I have hit the limit for horses that I can house. My husband bought Hank (Aston) for me for my birthday, with a gentle hint that I probably don't need anymore for a while.
Come on you guys help Mulligan get his friend home!!!

hey, Andrea- I have forgotten your personal situation...if you are able to rescue any horses, you have a three horse trailer, right? Are you able to house 3 horses too?
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re: Murphy - $675 Needed- Has Home Offer
Post by andrea on Sept 20, 2006, 6:23pm
Well, that's a complex question! I do have a 3 horse trailer that can actually be expanded to hold more, but I really shouldn't take more than two unless someone wants to sponsor the third. I have my husband's approval to take two broke horses that aren't too old and are at least 15 hands. I've offered homes to Murphy, George, and since I wasn't sure if someone else had already offered a home for George I made a home offer for Spud. If push came to shove I could probably take all 3 temporarily.
I've sent emails out to everyone I know too, and it sounds like I've got my mom convinced to donate some. She's going to give me the money on Friday and I'll put it toward whichever horse it will help the most with. Hopefully some others will donate as well.

In addition to giving him a home, I can now put $120 toward Murphy's bail! Yay! I won't be able to send it in until Saturday though. Or should I hang on to it until we have the total bail amount pledged
So does that make it $220 total pledged for Murphy? So just $555 left to come up with? That would be awesome!
I'm also making plans to make the trip and pick him up Sunday morning.

I just wanted to say, if you're thinking about pledging money for Murphy or Spud, the two I have offered homes for, or for George, who I can give a ride to on my way home, do it soon! I have to decide whether or not to cancel my trip plans by around 3pm Saturday. That doesn't leave much time.
And remember, even if the truck doesn't leave until Monday, their fates will be sealed on Sunday afternoon.

I might be able to do a home offer as a back up if you have to cancel. let me know and I will double check with my husband. I would still need help with bail as I have gotten connie, tic and tac off the lot so far and have tossed funds at other horses bail.

hollyellensburg - Thanks! I will let you know when we make the decision whether or not to go. It'll be some time this afternoon. The only thing that will stop me from going is if it looks like Murphy and the others really won't make bail in time.
Sierramist - awesome! THANK YOU!
Who changes the subject lines to reflect how much money is still needed?
Does anyone know if CBER will ever pitch in a hundred or so from the pull fund to meet bail if we can get the rest of it raised? Hopefully we won't need that, but maybe...

I think that the CBER volunteers have upon occasion used to Pul Fund to finish a bail, but I'm not sure if they have used it that way lately. The prices on the horses are higher...so I don't know if that makes any difference. I'll change the title header now, Andrea- Murphy needs $455 now?

I am so discouraged and bummed out right now. I think I need to take a couple days (at least) away from the board. But I'll stick it out in case I'm needed. The ups and downs! I was so excited to be able to help. I planned my daughter's birthday party around it. Now it all seems for naught.

Carrie,
Thank you so much for the generous offer. I couldn't get my husband to let me spend that much, even if it didn't have to be paid back right away. The cost for us has already gone up quite a bit because we'll now have to pay for transport off the lot and board for the week, etc. as well as the cost of the trip over there.
But thank you!
Is there anyone else out there who could take Carrie up on her loan offer and give Murphy a loving home?

Wonder how bad that stifle issue is.

I am so glad we got a reprieve until Wednesday! I've been stressing about this all day.
Is there anyone out there with extra cash burning a hole in their pocket that would like to help out with Murphy? I'll give him a home or cheer you on if you adopt him and take him home! He has a lot left to give to someone.

i am not a huge appy fan, but he is flashy,, i would put him in my pasture (if i had one), he's got the neatest markings/coloring, he looks so sporty. him and Mulligan. I really like them.
could it be an appy breakthrough for me?

Well, emjay, I'm a HUGE appy fan and I love this guy. He is pretty. If I didn't have something in the works for Mulligan and if I was made of money I'd snatch him up. He's adorable and he looks like he's got great confirmation.

Okay, it's late enough now that I can't make the trip this weekend. I am hoping that I could still go get him next weekend, if he gets bailed and can stay at Sam's for the week. How likely is that? Hollyellensburg, can you go ahead and talk to your husband? If you can save him I'd appreciate it.
I am so discouraged and bummed out right now. I think I need to take a couple days (at least) away from the board. But I'll stick it out in case I'm needed. The ups and downs! I was so excited to be able to help. I planned my daughter's birthday party around it. Now it all seems for naught.
If anyone needs to reach me quickly email me at andreav@turbonet.com, or call 208-875-0587. I'm going for a ride in the morning and will be travelling in the afternoon, but will check messages in between.

Carrie,
Thank you so much for the generous offer.
Oh, and all he needs now is $420, after Holly's $25 and Becca's $10.
