Joe is a 17-year-old Arab/Appy. He has been a kid's horse for several years. He has been gamed, 4Hed, carried flags in parades, used on drill teams, and even been in a mounted band (marching band on horseback). We got him for my daughter 3 years ago and thought we had actually found the mythical perfect horse, BUT... he went blind last summer.
We live in the mountains and have no access to a pasture that is safe for Joe. Right now he is at a friend's home, where he has been a buddy to 3 small girls, but they no longer want to keep him. Can someone help us find a home for him?
We are in Pendleton, OR.

If he's blind - try Rolling Dog Ranch and see if they'd be interested, they have grants for blind horses.

This is the kind of guy I'm pulled toward ... God I wish. You know he's smart as a whip, to compensate for his sight as well as he obviously has done. Who knows -- we bought 2 tickets for that special lottery (just in AZ?) where it's 20 bucks a piece and they only sell 350,000 tickets for a million plus pot. I think they've only sold 270,000 tickets or so, so far, and that just makes for even better odds. I sure can dream big, lol. Still have that 5 million dollar check on the wall that I wrote out to myself. I know what I'd do with it -- build a big facility where all these special equines are safe, happy and warm. I'd be in heaven to spend my days caring for them, ministering to them and listening to the tales they'd tell ... Why is money only wasted on the rich? Em

Joe has been offered a new home at Cedar Springs Camp in Lake Stevens, WA. They have a blind rescue horse that needs a buddy. He will be used however possible for the kids that attend the camp, whether it is riding or just being loved on. Our friends that currently have Joe are willing to keep him until we can get him to his new home.
Thank you to the people at Cowgirl Spirit for letting the camp know about Joe and thank you here at the Forum for helping me get the word out, too.

Maybe our dreams send out ripples into the universe that nudge other people to do what we can't yet, but wish we could.
Either way, HOORAY FOR JOE! What wonderful, wonderful news!
