18 - 20 year old, 16h, Belgian draft cross mare. She was being dropped when got there. We saw her quietly unload and sit patiently on the scale. She was happy to be greeted by kind people (CBER volunteers on the other side of the scale) to help adjust to her new surroundings. She was easy to halter, lead, backed, lifter her feet nicely. She leans on you a little when you pick up her feet so you will need to be super nice to your farrier when he trims her! LOL! WE were told that she was only halter broke but her demeanor was quiet the I got on her. She really did not give to pressure great, but not once did she offer to buck. She will need to be trained to be classified as a saddle horse but it will not take much!!! $875 Email Deb for more information ADOPTED!

Wow, I wonder how old she is? Obviously draft cross. Beautiful. She is sturdy looking enough to pack my husband, I think. Lord, I really want to call the farrier out. Those feet...

Our resue Clyde had awful feet. She leans a bit on you for support as well. She does great and then all of a sudden goes lame... then is fine. We had her feet x-rayed and she has a slight rotation of her coffin bone and joint issues probobly due to overstress and neglect. The vet said even if she seems ok not to work or ride her. She is EXTREMELY stoic about pain and will seem fine, just quiet, but in pain. She really wants to please. I have been told that this is a common issue with drafts. My heart breaks for her and I wish I could do for her what I've done with "Annabelle." I don't have any money to bail or ship... Vet care is where the money will need to go to find out where this magnificent lady really stands.

With a couple of good trims I bet she'll be fine. Drafts are not prone to coffin bone rotation!
30 days under saddle and she'd make a great hubby horse ;D

My vet told me that it would take trims every 6-8 weeks and at least a year to see any movement. My vet said that it would create more problems as she gets older if we don't wait and recheck again with x-rays in at least a year. Do you have any other resources that I can check? I am finding that for every "Fact" there are a dozen more that conflict! If there is a way to fix it I would do it in a heartbeat! She looks like a sweet baby... Wish I had the money for bail!!!

The horses who are used to having the stocks for support tend to lean a bit when they don't have the stocks for support. A lot of them quit leaning with consistent work on this.

We adopted Sierra for husband, but she turned out to be too little for him (actually, I think he is getting bigger, LOL ). I have been looking for a horse able to carry him and a heavy western saddle on trails. Combined weight would be around 340 lbs. Even with her size, if she has any soundness issues, that could be asking a lot. What is the life expectancy of a draft?

I know one that was used as a kid's mount at 27!!! Had arthritis and couldn't carry adults but was a great gentle child's horse.

She is really built, but not overly tall, with great bone, which what attracted me to her. And such a sweet look on her face. d**n. I can't even think about what it would cost me to drive up and get her, let alone quarantine.

3 bales of hay a week... beet pulp, pellets, supplements, 6 stall mats not 4... expand the 10x10 cause she'll need a 12x12... I could rent a CAT and make everything BIGGER.... more fencing. Would she cost more to ship? Probably... I am loosing sleep over this one trying to figure out how to swing it!!! God, give me a miracle today!
