Miss Junie gave some rides this weekend. Our friend, Kelly, had her daughter, niece and significant others/husbands over for the T-giving holiday and we all wanted to ride. We rounded up all the rideable horses (and one apparently non-trail-rideable pony). Friday was spent finding tack that fit people and horses and organizing who would ride who. We didn't get very far on a trail ride, but rode in the round pen and arena for a couple of hours. June did great. A couple of different people rode her and she was very sweet.
On Saturday, a gal wanted to ride her on the trail. I felt confident with the gal and June (after her solid performance on Friday) so we went on a fairly long trail ride and Junie did fantastic! The gal is in love with her and I think might have smuggled her away if she didn't live in the city.
June continues to be easier and easier to catch, bridle, do things with. She's never been mean or very difficult, but would turn her head, be a little shy. She's getting very personable.
She is not growing the winter coat that the others are getting. I wonder if the baby is taking her nutrients that should be growing her winter coat? Anyway, after a couple of freezing nights, I found my biggest turnout (78) that used to be Gambler's, but was actually too big for him. I wanted a lot of air/insulation with Gambler and room to move. Anyway, it fits June great. She didn't like me flopping it WAY up over her back, but then didn't mind any of the straps or the actual blanket being on her at all. Don't know if she's been blanketed before, but she was certainly enjoying it yesterday! ;D
