Ooh, ooh, ooh, she is so pretty! Her photos don't do justice to her incredible mane, and she absolutely loves scritchies! She is a very tired girl this evening but mk is obviously smitten so I believe we can safely say:
A MATCH MADE IN HEAVEN!
I know for sure that at Harvest Moon Ranch, Honey IS in heaven.
Congratulations, Michelle!

Hi! Sorry to be slow, I will get you some new pics tomorrow. I have mostly spent this week getting to know Honey, help her settle in, and teaching her the ranch rules. We have some funny rules here like "don't crawl into my lap if you get worried, you're to big " and "its more than a flat tire if you step on the back of my tennis shoe, its a trip to the emergency room, so please don't " Her belley was also bothering her at the beginning of the week, I'm sure the long trailer ride and new setting, are the culprits. Got her tummy right and now shes really relaxed. She'll be moving out of the round pen tomorrow and into her special paddock inside the llama pen, sure hope she likes her new llama friends. Shes really interested in meeting the minis. Shes also really interested in meeting Jasper the big black draft cross that lives here. Everytime we walk him by the pen where she is, they both plant their hooves and stare longingly into each others eyes. They may have to meet soon.

Thank you MK!!! Looks like OL' #31 is getting along famously! Or as we Nicknamed her when she was here..."The Honey Pot O' Love" sounds like she is looking for some lovin' so I bet she and Sam would hit it off.

I rode Honey today. Well, it was more of a pony ride, Gratefulknits walked her around with me on her back. I was trying out Honeys new saddle. I think it fits pretty well, but the pad with shims will be needed. Honey was such a good girl, she just walked around calmly while I wiggled the saddle around, stuck my fingers in between her shoulder and the saddle, leaned forward and back. Not much phases Honey, I think we are going to have a ball out on the trail. No pictures unfortunately, it was impromtu, but maybe tomorrow we'll try again, and bring the camera out. Thank you Jim & Ashley, I love her.

Honey got a full pedicure today. She was such a well behaved girl. Stood quietly while I paid someone else to do those hooves I have been introducing her to my grinder, but shes rather worried about all that noise. When she decides grinders are ok, I'll tackle her hooves, but not until then. I can't imagine rasping those things, they are huge

Honey can fly. Last week Honey had a big mare fight with her neighbor. Between the two of them, they actually took down a portion of the fence. It shouldn't surprise me, but it does. The fence is made of 6" to 7" in diameter lodge poles, that have been set in concrete. They stand about 5 feet tall with approx 3 feet buried in concrete. We joke about our fences being Giraffe safe, they look like something you might find at a wild life park. Anyway, they are strong and hard to knock over. It took Honey several weeks of fighting with Lotta thur the fence to loosen 2 of the poles enough that she could knock a section down. Honey let herself into her neighbors paddock. The interesting part occurred when she was found and returned to her own paddock. While she was standing on her side of the fence and the downed portion of the fence was being repaired. The portion to be repaired was lying on the ground getting ready to be stretched. The no climb wire along this stretch of fencing is 5 ft tall. So laying on the ground it would be 5 ft. wide. Honey decided she wanted back over to her neighbors side of the fence, so she backed up a few steps on her side of the paddock, and took a flying leap over the fence. Pretty amazing that such a big girl can get so far off the ground, and with so little effort. Makes me wonder what crossing creeks will be like on her.

Hey Michelle....Welcome to the wonderful, wonderful world of draft horses. They eat fencing for breakfast. Half Pint has snapped off a 6" peeler log set in 30 inches of concrete at the ground.
Two words: hot wire!! After resisting for several years (and having way too many broken fences), I finally broke down and wired this place up like Jurassic Park.
Want to meet at Riverfront Park for a beginner trail ride around the lake?

Actually Hot wire is on the agenda for Today. My husbands helping me put it up, should have done it months ago.
I would love to meet for a trail ride. Riverfront would be good, I have taken the minis there for walks several times, they are my little dogs.
