Honey is an 8 year old Belgian Mare, she is about 16.2hh and is a beautiful mare, VERY STOUT, she has such nice coloring and dapples! Honey is broke to ride, she is best as a trail horse, she is slow and steady wins the race, she prefers to do all her riding at a walk, but will go for miles. Riding Honey is like riding a couch! She is docile enough that even our youngest / least experienced riders get a kick out of plodding around on Honey. She is sound, loves grooming and will stand for the farrier, has great feet, she trailers but is impatient when you stop, she is an easy keeper. She prefers not to be stalled. Honey needs her own person, she is a horse that loves the rewards of being a horse that is taken out and fawned over daily. She is an alpha mare in the pasture and mostly hangs out by the gate begging to come out. She is good with the other horses but if there is food involved she is gonna get it first. This sweet gal would love to be your next trail horse, you two can cover miles of trails together and see the scenery! Honey needs her special someone and a job she is bored here at Hytyme! If you need a husband horse...here is your gal! Contact Jim for more info: Jim@htequinerescue.com

Where are all the people who want horses for their husbands? Like riding on a couch, what else could a guy ask for??? Except maybe a remote control to go with it.

This mare is an absolute doll, she had wonderful care from her previous owners who got her thru rescue from the the large group of drafts that were rescued in 2005. They spent lots of time and effort with her and only the circumstnaces of having to move led them to contact us to find her a new place where she would be safe and loved. She is the epitome of steady draft temperament.

Heidi is right, Honey could ride through a war and not even care, she has been very well cared for and the only reason we are finding a new home is she is bored to tears at Hytyme and is frustrated with not getting enough attention, so we thought best to find her very own person. She is a very fun ride!

She was definitely one of my husband's and my favorites when we met them, we would have taken her in a heartbeat if she hadn't been adopted right away. Instead we got 2 other big "sweeties" out of there too! She is a gem!

Michelle, how exciting! She's absolutely amazing and would be a wonderful addition to Harvest Moon Ranch!
If this works out, please keep in mind that we group adopted Pay Day in the last round of feedlot horses. He's at Sam's for QT, but we will need to haul him to Sonoma County after that.
Perhaps we could share hauling?
What a duo - skinny TB gelding and big-bodied draft mare.

Well, you couldn't ask for much better than for Honey to be adopted by mkgbuegel! Numero Uno horse mama who's in it for the long haul (and has a super hubby who does all sorts of wonderful things with a tractor).
Michelle, I am psychically connecting with the llamas right this moment.....and they are saying "We are lonely! We want a big, sweet Belgian named Honey to live in our pasture and protect us!!"

Thanks everybody, I am soooo excited. Should be out working, but I just can't.
And Katie, you crack me up, You are completely correct, I am seriously considering putting her out with the Llamas, at least for right now. She'll have the minis to keep her company, and if she and minis decide they like on and other, she'll go out with them to the 4 acre pasture. Funny that my minis have the biggest pasture on the ranch.
Modified to ad: This is the first horse in years that I adopted for myself to ride. She would be my trail partner. And if it works out well and she enjoys it, she would help me give lessons.

re minis...our big draft mare is in with a mini donkey and a small QH filly and she is very careful not to step on the mini! Also the mini ( who does not get grain, she is too fat) goes and stands underneath Tess and her feed bin to see if she can catch any grain crumbs that fall out! Its very funny... best of luck on getting this darling mare.

Yippee yippee yippee! You will not believe that last night when I was driving home after our lesson, I was thinking, "So when is Michelle going to get her next horse?" Maybe I'm a wee bit psychic, too (after spending much of my life being accused of being psychotic I'm twitchy with that word!) Oh, Michelle, I'm so excited for you! I can't wait for the horse warming party. What don't you have in your current layette? Hope ;D ;D ;D ;D ;D MTA: And I didn't cheat! I hadn't seen this thread before today! M(AGAIN)TA: Can I ride her?

Well, I think I have been preparing for Honey for the last year, because I did purchase some draft size equipment, blankets, saddle, misc. stuff. I didn't know exactly what possessed me at the time, but I figured, go for it, its all a good deal, and I know I will need it someday. Melody, Honeys previous owner offered to send me Honey parelli bridle, which I will gladly accept. I guess the only thing I am really missing now is a huge trailer, time to start looking at selling mine and getting one that can accomodate a draft and at least 3 of her freinds.
And yes you can ride her, between her Lotta & Homer, I think we have enough for a trail ride.
I'm so excited I could throw up.

Just a quick tidbit, I adopted Martini (now Libby) and she is 16.3 and walked right into a stock trailer that was 6'6", so you might not need the "MONSTER" trailer like I thought I did. Congrats...you can't go wrong with a Belgian, they're the BEST! Love em, love em, love em!

Well I think since this is offical....we can move Miss Honey's thread to Our horses!!!
PS: Honey can be pushy w/ the horses in the pasture when there is food involved so be careful w/ the mini's. She likes her pick of the viddles first that is for sure!!

Honeys coming home. Her ride will be picking her up on September 5th, she'll be here at my place the next day! She will be riding in style, an extra big box stall with lots of shavings. Once again, I am to excited to work!
A huge Thanks to Jim/Hytyme, Ashley, and Melody. -Michelle

I think she would love that! And she did. Knows just what they were all about. Just keep 'em comin' thankee. Which is more than I can say for Rhiannon, who has clearly never seen a carrot, apple or cookie. But were working on it....FYI this horse is SMART. Whups...maybe I got a horse that's smarter than I am....
