I'd take him in a heartbeat, if my husband would give the OK, but that's never going to happen...
For me, its not the riding, its the caretaking, the brushing, the hugging and the loving...

I posted an ad yesterday on draftsforsale.com . Oddly even though I put in the title of the ad that he has ringbone he has had more hits than the ads I placed for Passion and Rhapsody.
modified to add that secretly I've been hoping that this means someone is interested in him as a pet or at least feeling like he stands less of a chance because of his condition and keeps going back to the ad because they are debating giving him a home.

When I was little my first horse, part draft, had ringbone. He was only off once in a while. Is ringbone an absolute no riding? Pam

Our farrier was out tonight trimming minis and he said ringbone was a very managable problem. If you have a farrier you trust and knows his/her stuff than maybe this big boy would work out.

Sometimes it depends on whether the ringbone issues are high or low, but I understand it can be managed with a good trimmer.

I learned a lot about ringbone with Serengeti......it is very manageable with a good farrier and it can possibly "fuse" in time making the horse much more comfortable after this happens. Sere was very lame on her leg that had the least amount of ringbone.....weird.

MSM is also good for ringbone, NO GLUCOSAMINE, just MSM. Aggressive trimming, shock-wave therapy, and MSM work wonders for Ring bone. (BY aggressive, I mean 1X a month--Not cutting them short, but keeping the hoof level) Also, if you can afford the surgery, they can put a plate in. (In some cases, not all) Depending on where the ring bone is, and what stage it is in, they can also do injections.

I'll pledge $150 to Vesper. Wish I could figure a way to just bail him entirely. Such a sweet face.

Yes, I'll pledge $100 to get Vesper to Pam/violetacres.
Pam is the warmhearted person who took in the old CBER Thoroughbred mare named "WaHi" in early 2006, gave her a loving home on her ranch, and quietly laid her to rest this spring when it was WaHi's time to cross the bridge.
