UPDATE!!! Cavalier has had a name change. He just seemed more like a "Maximus." Max and I have been working hard together. After a month of lunging with a surcingle and bit, and then introduction of a light synthetic saddle, we had our first ride on New Year's Day. He was extremely nervous, but tried really hard to be brave and good. He didn't bolt or buck and responded as much as he could understand to what I asked of him. He can't handle much leg pressure and knows nothing, but he wants to try, so it's just going to be a long journey with him. The journey has begun... and we are really happy together as a team. He got his teeth floated a few days ago and they were very much in need of it. He was a champ for that too. He's a great horse, and I feel like the luckiest girl in the world to have found my match. ;D Hope you enjoy the next little slide show. s70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/plane8/?action=view¤t=ca94b58f.pbwTrish

Wonderful~ thanks for updating us, Trish! I've been wondering how you and Max were doing, and wishing I had an email addy for you so I could check in. He's sure a great looking horse! ;D Modified because I called him a gret looking horse, and I have no idea what that is!

Now that the downpouring has stopped for awhile, Maximus is back in training. He's learning so fast, and it's really been fun for me. He looks forward to his rides now and opens his mouth easily and willingly for the bit and doesn't flinch at all when the saddle goes on now. The owner of the farm where I board him, Jessica, is a high-level dressage rider. She has been working with Max, and he is really coming along. He learns fast and tries really hard. I can now ride him at a nice trot and turn him without resistance. He trusts me, and that means the world to me. For fun, we take sunset walks around this huge pasture and he gets to graze along the way. He gets to just hang out a lot and be a horse, playing with his friends, and just hanging out with me without being asked to do any work. He has great ground manners and is really affectionate and friendly now too. Hope you enjoy my new slideshows. I'm in red and Jessica is in pink... it's almost Valentine's Day. I downloaded some recipes off the internet and I'm going to bake some horse treats for all the horses at the farm. s70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/plane8/?action=view¤t=4ec005aa.pbws70.photobucket.com/albums/i96/plane8/?action=view¤t=82dc36a6.pbw
