Bliss is a 20 year old Roan Belgian rescued from neglect. She is beautiful and very sweet. Broke to ride! Will only let her go to a very good home, preferably not too far away ;D. She will need continued care for her legs, scrubbing and washing, and farrier care, but the vet is confident she will be sound and a good pleasure mount. Right now she walks and trots fine just a little tender and trips over the long toes from no farrier care. The farrier is planning on trimming the fronts Monday and we are making progress already toward picking up the rears in preperation for trimming them too. But she will need to have continued positive experiences to be confident about picking up the rears. update 9/07 : she will lift all feet and has been trimmed twice by the farrier without sedation. Here is what her previous home wrote about her: "Big beautiful belgian, trained to ride and drive, great on trails, goes over water and thru anything, even good for beginners. She is 16 years old, and weighs about 1600 lbs. This is a $4000 dollar horse. My husband lost his job, and I am broke." Will only ask what I got her for $500, a steal for a big beautiful mare like this, when she's already had a vet exam and been test rided! (hopefully it will also ensure a good home and we already have our eye on another to rescue! ;D) We will send along all her medical supplies, her box of Platinum glucosamine vitamins, and of course her halter and lead. Contact me at mydog8it2@aol.com if you are interested in providing a lifelong home for Bliss. update: free ONLY to a good home!

Is this girl 16 or 20? I thought I saw on another thread that she is 16, but this one says 20.

From what I have been told, late teens. Also, I was told she is good with fences. Some drafts walk through them or lean on them, and then poof, no fence. She is really lovely. I am interested, but there are some logistics we have to overcome if we were to put in for her. First, we are 11 hours away. Second, we would have to make some changes to our fencing, it isn't ready for a 3rd horse. Third, we need to come up with another shelter, since the one we have is barely big enough for the 2 horses we already have. Sigh. Other than that....

the original age was from the owners trying to place her, the vet thinks she is probably closer to 20. She is in great shape though and is an easy keeper, especially for how big she is she is very sweet, she comes and gently puts her head in my arms and just sits there with her head on my chest for her head to be hugged

Oh man. Stop that. I really gotta work on hubby more, he isn't convinced. He just keeps saying, "get rid of one of the others first." Yeah, right. Is that roaning unusual in a Belgian? I don't have much draft experience. My farrier kinda squeeked and went pale, though, when I mentioned we were thinking of a draft...

Bliss is doing great. Everyone falls in love with her, she is so sweet. We worked very hard on her feet and it payed off, she had all of her feet trimmed WITHOUT sedation, she was a champ and didn't cause the farrier any problems ;D I'll try to get out and take some pictures of how beautiful they look now! She's stiff but not lame, not sure if her age or the swollen foot though, it is almost half it's size already. She seems to get better all the time and can trot around if "provoked. " Her legs are looking much better and she is getting along well with the other horses. She will make a great pet that you can hop on and go for little walks with!

ok, bit of an emergency I hope someone can help out! Husband has put his foot down, we have to find a home for Bliss in 30 days! Now he doesn't do this often but he is right we just can't afford it I have her on Petfinder and Dreamhorse, but I am hoping someone knows someone or if you've been on the fence about her to step on in I'm willing to give her to someone on the RO board with a contract of course. So free to good home! She is really a wonderful horse, and I will be sad to see her go. Her legs look great and probably will rarely need washing now, her feet look great and she picks up her feet very well! Please help me, I really want her to go to a good home!

husband relented when we placed the other horse we rescued (we were up to four ) but as soon as "Stucco" comes home from QT he'll be back on the warpath ;D, so we still only have about 30 days to place her. I have gotten some response from ads and may have a woman coming to look at her this week. But you know how flaky people can be...please let me know if you hear of anyone or if anyone is interested in our big sweet girl! She also now has a brand spankin new BRIGHT RED bitless bridle we got for her that she does very well in, my seven year old rode her around in it

Is Bliss still available. I am very interested in her. She is what I am looking for. I am new to this board, so I just saw here. My only problem is getting her to WA state. I can pay for gas money to deliver her, if interested. I have 5 acres, draft size stalls and walk in's and two mares that would love the company. Please let me know. She would be my trail horse. Thanks!
