Cracker Jax- PENDING!
Post by cybercat on Nov 28, 2006, 11:54am
20+, 13.2h, appy gelding pony. This is a super great pony!!!!!! Easy to catch, easy to handle, good about his teeth being looked at, ears touched, feet picked up..... Easy to ride, moves off leg, gives to rein pressure, neck reins and backs easily. We were told he is trained to drive as well but we do not know as we have not seen it for ourselves. None-the-less, this pony is great, great, great! He could possible have an eye problem as seen here in the photos he is squinting but he could see and navigate fine around the other horses and the feed-lot.
Please contact Vickie for more information.

Hello I am from Chicago. I didn't know about this board until um about 5 minutes ago. I wasn't aware that someone had planned to adopt Cracker Jax already and I actually <gulp!> just paid his entire bail thinking it could be applied to his adoption fee. Whoops. Did I make a mistake? Well he is safe now that's what matters.
I have no idea what happens now, other than he'll be out of harm's way if that truck comes calling.

p.s. We'd love to have CJ here in Chicago; I am rallying the troops here to adopt a few others off the lot so that we can fill a truck to ILLINOIS to give a bunch of horses nice new homes.
Galaxy: let me know. My application is not approved yet but when it is we'd love to have CJ in our herd (to join two other Leopard appaloosas)

Please don't feel guilty, webmistress32...we would LOVE it if you could take a whole load...we fall in love with these horses and it is so horrible if we lose ANY of them to slaughter or illness.
We cheer each other on and make our plans on this board, and also become fast friends...
The way CBER works is this...the ultimate decision about who gets the horse is up to the PS- the Placement Specialist. She'll decide based on your application and how many horses you have, fencing, faciities, etc...as well as personality of the horse and your experience.
The reality is that the person who can pay all the adoption fees and adopt a horse outright will have firs priority over a Group Adoption...one where we all chip in to pay a horse's bail...there is sometimes a line for a horse, so also wil depend on your postition in the adoption line.
Make sure you send an email to the Placement Specialist to let her know of your interest and that your application is being processed. It is also a very good idea to send a copy of your donation's transaction number and method of payment- CBER store or PayPal to the Placement Specialist, so they can track it along with the application.
The CBER officials rarely come on these bulletin boards, so questions are best sent directly to them...they are the OFFICIAL AND FINAL WORD any of these animals....we get in touch when we really have something that we need to find out...
I have to go off-line now, but if you need any more info, anyone will be glad to help you...I'll check in a little later to see if there's anything else we can help you with...
Tell your friends and family to also look at our CBER sponsored horses who are already off the feedlot waiting for homes, and also our former CBER Adoptive horses that need new homes...
oh, and finally....WELCOME! I'm so glad you found us!

Web you did everything absolutely correct!
I do not think that anyone on this board would be upset that a horse was made safe and removed from the lot.
I am not upset at all- it must of been meant to be for you.
Welcome to the group.
I sent you a personal message- check it out.

I always use webmistress32 as a login name but my name is actually Laura.
I hope this all goes as I think it will. I wish I had more room at my place for more but sadly I can only pick so much poop in one day - 5's my limit. Well really 4's my limit but I can stretch a tiny bit for this little guy.
My 6yo is going to be a very happy boy. He will now be able to ride with his two older sisters; one rides a 15.2h leopard appy and the other has a beautiful pony more that we found a sale barn last year (we got really lucky with that one and we think she got pretty lucky to find us) ;-)
Here are CJ's potential herd mates:

I did hear back that they are working on my application but my neighbors who are references have not gotten a call yet. I have talked with my husband and he is a big softy and so glad that we can help.
We are both most concerned right now about getting the pony off the lot and into quarantine to make sure he doesn't get sick. We are a bit worried about all of the reports of horses getting sick and dying before they come home
Weather stinks here. I think right now it's about -4 degrees F and the wind is blowing. It's a no compromise kind of cold. But it's supposed to be 35+ this weekend so of course we are making riding plans.

I will be anxious for any news and to know how he is feeling. I'd like to send a care package out for him - a blanket, some treats, and other necessities for his care.
Do I wait until he is in quarantine and for someone to reach me?
As a multi-horse owner I sense that the checkbook has only begun to get warmed up.

It was partly sunny and I think got to low 50's in Monroe, WA.
Hang in there- Spring will be here before we know it- At least for those of us over 40.

Hi Laura, CJ was pulled off the lot last night. He was following Sam around when she was getting Plat. and Glory and she felt sorry for him loaded him up and took him to her house.
So he is safe but I don't know if he is sick or not. Debhttp://[del:deb]
