A friend of mine asked me to post this for her. She has a 17 yr. old, all white, Qt/arab mix pony. His is just over 13 hands tall. Very well trained. He spent 10 years as a therapy pony. He got very tired of going slow and now he wants a second life as a trail pony. He loves to move fast out on the trail. Hes not for a rank beginer, only because he really wants to move. Hes not misbehaved about it, just unhappy about going slow. So its Mikeys turn for a new begining, if you know of any petite riders who love a kind, intelligent, sane, forward horse. Email me and I will put you intouch with his owner. They are not as concerned about money as they are the perfect match. They love Mikey very much. I will get some pics to post asap. mkgbuegel@yahoo.com

why does he need a light weight rider?
mta: we are looking for a small horse/large pony for my daughter who rides Taffy, she wants to 'go faster', not 'really fast', we do gymkhana, and she does canter, just wants to know for sure she is in control... no bolting. but she LOVES to ride our other pony, he is only 11 hands! but he's quick.... took 8th in the state last year in division 6 gymkhana... against horses.

beth, i'm not sure "petite" means light weight so much as shorter. I'm guessing at 13 hands a tall person might not be the best fit..

Ah!!! gotcha... heck, a 13 hand pony is pretty big! especially if you don't really want to be up too high... just wanted to be sure tho....

I didn't mean light weight, just some one who would be comfortable on a pony. I sent you a pm.

Michelle, You might post an ad for the pony on the Pony Club Sierra Pacific Region website. Does he do arena work? sierrapacific.ponyclub.org/Pony Club Sierra Pacific Region

Hes really tired of arena work. His owner is hoping to find him a trail riding home, thats apparently his favorite thing to do. She is currently riding him bareback out in the vineyards, she says he just loves it.

If it doesn't work out for him going home with Beth, let me know. I have an up and coming rider (my son) for whom we are looking for a pony. We trail ride exclusively, with the occasional (we've gone once) playday or small show thrown in.
Thanks for helping him find a home mkgbuegel.

We picked up the little man today... he is JUST as cute as his pic! my daughter is in love... I hope Mikey feels the same way! he is perky but very willing, and just the right size!!!
We did a great 'swap'... we have an older pony, Poncho, who was looking for a full board lease partner... and her daughter is small, and looking for an older, been there done that... slow pony.... Poncho will go slow, medium, fast... whatever... :0) he just loves to be loved. so, hopefully, our mutual 'trials' will be successful... and we both have a pony to lease for as long as we need! and two ponies have girlies to luv on 'em all day!!! pics tomorrow, dark now!

He was SUCH a good boy today! we put him thru the paces for sure! First thing this morning he got his breakfast hand prepared, and hand fed just about.... :-) then he had a thorough grooming... some playing... some braiding... some more braiding... tried on ALL the tack, blankets, sheets... different saddle pads, bridles... lots of stuff! Then... it was time for a trail ride! so, he hopped in the trailer, with Mr Bob Marley, and Camelot, and off we went! down to the trailhead, and out he popped, ready for tack and off to ride! He was rearing and ready to go! and my daughter loved the whole ride!!! We went for 2 1/2 hours... not bad for the first day! he did not act up one tiny bit! we did some steep hills up and down.. .which was a little tricky for my daughter... and we need a better saddle fit for them... but we can do that. He is 'round' and she was tipping over some times to one side.... and the saddle slipped forward on the downhills... but, he seemed very happy, and Amy was VERY happy! That is what counts! Here are a few pics I took... no pro photographer for sure!! LOL!!! what a bold pony! he took the lead a few times! ears forward, marching right along! here is me on Bob Marley, and Amy on Mikey. isn't he a cutie?

OK I got it moved! now, we will keep it updated! Little Mikey is doing GREAT so far! We went out for another trail ride, he hops right in the trailer, and is ready to 'go' when he hops out! He is bold and brave, and moves out without being pushy or feeling like he might take off... perfect for my daughter's move up! Not this next weekend, but the one after we'll take him to a gymkhana I think, that should be fun! this weekend coming up is our Junior's overnight campout and trail ride with our riding club, at Tilden Park, so we will try to take him to that one too! little man is getting a work out! (and we're still trying to find a round saddle that works on him!)

Have you tried a crupper on him to help keep the saddle back? He sure is a looker.

OK, now I'm going to admit my ignorance! Just what is a Quarter pony? So far I've come up with 1/2 Quarter Horse, 1/2 some pony or other; or 1/4 pony and 3/4 something non-pony! Oh, how about, 100% Quarter Horse, just really petite! Which is it? Something I didn't even think of, probably!
