This boy just wants to be loved!!! 3- 5 year old. 15h, palomino gelding. This young fellow was curious and wanted us to pay attention to him. He was good in the halter but not too responsive to backing, however he tried to accommodate what was being asked of him. He was sound at time of assessment but has an old wire cut that has deformed the shape of his foot and might be an injury that will require constant supervision. The injury has parts that have old scarring but there are also areas where the flesh looks red and needing of more care. Okay, we need someone to take good photos of the injury so we can see what kind of medical care he might need. Is there anyone who can do that?

Spyder, on the CBER website there are additional photos of Stonington, and some of them show the hoof injury. Unfortunately, with the mud, its not as visible as we'd like...

I had an inquiry from the Horsetopia ad for him...she barrel races and also asked about the wire cut. Heidi said he does not appear lame at this time....his wound will leave a scar but if cleaned and treated it will not look bad.
I did let the inquirer know that she is welcome to arrange for a pre-purchase exam by a vet and to contact Heidi if that's something she wants to do...since she's looking for a horse for a high impact sport I think it's a great idea.

The wire cuts on this poor guy are very deep I don't think he will be sound enough for anything high impact..His foot turns out because of it..Light trail riding would probably be all this guy could do..But I am not a vet!! Just a note to say that I who took her off the lot and worked on her for 2 weeks and then her new owners who continued her care, healed up a little mare who was very lame and had extremely extremely deep laceration to her fetlock/pastern/coronary band. She was tired of all the doctoring, but it healed absolutely beautifully, no proudflesh and is sound on it, so it can be done if treated right and this guy is already ahead of her in that he is not unsound on it, she was very lame. So without treatment and vet check we can never say for sure what they will be able to do, vet thought our filly wouldn't do that well, but was amazed how great she did.

Anyone that is considering any of these available lot horses should get their applications in now if they're not already approved, and contact the Placement Specialist to advise their interest and their approval status.
No word yet on the next truck, or how much notice we'll be given, but more than likely it will be soon.

Yup - thanks to Anne/Bridgetah - Stoney (as his "dad" is already calling him) is coming to the Bay Area - about 20 minutes from my office. He's already at Deb's and getting lots of love and treatment for that wound.
