Beauty- 2 y/o - 15h - chestnut QH type Mare Post by cherie on Sept 8, 2006, 11:03pm
Beauty - 2 year old, 15h, chestnut QH type mare. Beauty is a stunning mare! She is sweet but did not want us to halter her. She did not flinch when we touched her so she has been handled. She is super fancy and sound at the time of assessment. She is well put together and has a nice kind eye. Another great project for the winter. Also the photos do not due her justice!
Name of Horse- Beauty
Adopter- Sundancer

Beauty update!
Beauty and Merryana FINALLY made it to Southern California this weekend! Sharon and Dave pulled in about 6:30 p.m. Saturday night. The girls ate the whole way to California and were pampered the entire trip! They both unloaded quietly and went to their new corral. We are keeping them together as they are used to each other. They spent a FREEZING night in Lancaster, and the next morning, were up and ready for some California sunshine!!!
Beauty is very friendly...she likes people...she wants affection! I can't believe what a wonderful little gal she is! Oh, and she has a flaxen mane! She's such a cutie pie!
Angie is coming by this morning to give me a lesson with both girls! They are settling in nicely.

WOW!!!! What a POWERHOUSE! She's like a steam locomotive...all POWER!!!!! Phew!
I worked her today, my first workout with her...BOY, is she a handful!@!!!!!! She is so powerful, and definitely an alpha mare!!! But, she has decided that I am her "human"!!! (thank goodness!)...she does what I ask of her and then follows me around the corral...
She had her second day with the bareback pad...no big deal !!! Angi says she badly needs a foot trim, so she will do it this week. BOY, she is a HANDFUL!!!
We turned her and Merryana out with the other horses...Beauty took off after one of them and gave her a bite!!! It was a good weekend in Lancaster...cool, windy...both girls got 2 days of workouts with us and Angi. They are progressing very nicely!

They appear very happy to be "home" finally! I love to see those kind of happy, stress-free expressions! Just remember power is a good thing as long as you can direct it in a postive way! We look forward to your updates and pictures!

Beauty and the Bit...
Beauty got her first bit today...wasn't sure about it...didn't know where to put her tongue! You should have seen the tongue action! WOW! She actually did pretty well with it. Angi even managed to long line lunge her. She is settling in, backs, lifts her front feet, changes directions. She is coming along nicely.

Isn't it so much fun to work with train a horse. So much more fun than a nicely trained horse. You get to do so much together, then when the horse can do so much it's like wow we did all this together!

Beauty got kicked by Gigondas and hasn't been sound for a couple of weeks. We are letting her rest. She is SUCH a SWEETHEART!!! She comes up to me for "scratches" and grooming!! Stands still. I noticed she has some white patches on her! She has shed out her winter woolies and is now a gorgeous chestnut with a golden glow! She looks amber, really. I haven't downloaded my photos yet, but when we get back home tomorrow, I'll download them. She has been saddled by Angi and is ready to go as soon as she recovers!!! She is a total LOVE BUG!!! Oh, and she LOVES apples!

Well, I was on my own today with "our herd", so I decided to give Beauty a bath!!! The herd ran around, kicked up their heels, jumped up midair, and generally farted everywhere!!! This is Beauty with her new saddle pad: Ho, hum....back to eating... AFTER her bath, DUH!!!! AFTER Mom brushed her all over again...(pretty girl)

Valerie has offered to saddle her, ride her out on trails, and keep her at her place for 30 days! What an offer! How could I say no? I'm so excited! Updates coming!

My cousin has done 2 lessons with Beauty. This is "stay". This is "come". She LOVES Valerie! Goofy ears! What a change in this horse! She is now calm, relaxed, and confident! She's only had 2 lessons with my cousin. She will get saddled Monday and then Valerie will take her out on the mountain trails (pony her) and see how she does. More updates coming!

Beauty and Gigo are doing just fine! Beauty went to my cousin's ranch for the summer to finish off her saddle training. She is a wonderful, calm, rideable horse now!!! She returned a few weeks ago and has settled back in with the herd. Actually, she's next to Sunni (my two laid back horses!)...I haven't had time to post pics here, but I'll do so soon! Between school, horses, kids, COLDS, stomach flu....too much to do and so little time!

Beauty returned to "the herd" in October. My cousin, Valerie, took her out for 4 months' training this summer. She is now rideable and trail-trained. Val took her out on trails this summer to get her used to boulders, low lying tree branches, etc. Beauty did just fine! Beauty returned to us mid-October. She is now at the ranch with the rest of our horses. Due to my back problems (I have a pinched nerve and I'm undergoing physical therapy), I can't ride her right now, but my therapy is ending soon! YEAH! She is a very calm horse under saddle...no problems! She is a DELIGHT!

Beauty is doing just fine! She is the perfect horse for a beginner, like me! She's very calm and patient! But, she's still young and she does like to play, especially with Sunni, my PMU gelding! But...she's the leader and he's the follower, so off they go!

I posted this in the RIP section, but I am sad to report that Beauty is dead in just a stupid, freak accident. She got cast in her corral and it appears she hit her head while trying to get up. There were no marks that she thrashed, so apparently it was sudden. Beauty 2004? - June 25, 2009. RIP, beautiful one. You were the perfect horse for me and you taught me so much. I miss you terribly. Such a tragic end to such a wonderful, warm, loving mare. Beauty was only 5 years old.
