Hi all! and update on Jet, the old QH mare with Cushing's.... looked like a swayback buffalo on the feedlot pic... Well, she is doing well, but did lose some weight this fall... she had full solar abcesses on both front feet, and actually blew out twice on the right one... blew the sole, and also at the coronary band, both feet... ouch!!! she is VERY stoic tho... and never was very lame... poor old gal!!! but, she is past that, knock on wood!!! and doing fine. I put her in the paddock with the horses on pellets now tho, so she could get some easier to eat food.... she gets a bit of hay too, but a full bowl of pellets and beet pulp twice a day too... (elk grove milling stable mix) yummy. I had dental done on her today, not sure if you all saw the pic of her front teeth.... but they were kinda a mess... but they weren't so bad in the back... points tho, and all real short, so he says that makes them very sensitive. He took off the points and evened out the front ones so she could chew on BOTH sides... now, isn't that a novel idea? (she was only chewing on the right side!) and back to her humble abode she went (happily!!!). drew labs on her today, so we will verify her dose of pergolide... sigh... and so far, she is so good!!! Beth modified to add: that is funny!! wonder why her teeth are cleaner today? they were!!! huh... guess I have 'dental hay'!!! LOL!!!

Glad to hear she is doing better-thanks for taking good care of her! She was such a sad case on the lot. That's crazy how her teeth were worn- what caused her front ones to wear that way?

I'll get an 'after' tomorrow when she is feeling better... he said she probably started chewing on one side, then eventually she couldn't touch on the other... it was even worse, if you will, in person... the bottoms are /were just the same as the tops, only opposite. he took down the top left (as you look at it) and the bottom rights... so now, her back teeth touch on both sides!!! she'll probably have a huge jaw ache for a while!
