Ally is my very first horse!!! I have wanted a horse since I was a small child, but did not fulfil my dream until the ripe old age of 32 She is a beautiful Appendix QH and the love of my life...okay I now have 3 more loves of my life, but ya know how that is Ally is now 9 years old, wow the time really flies. I bought her when she was 5. She had been raced as a 2 year old, didn't win and bred pretty darn quickly after that. I leased her for about 6 months before buying her. She was REALLY fast and REALLY nervous/spooky, but she was so sweet and so willing that I could not resist her. Looking back, I know that she was way too much horse for me at the time I bought her. Through, hours and hours together, we both settled into a special relationship. Anyway, here's my black beauty (a.k.a Madame).... 1st month together Pretty as a picture

Wow Caryn, that head shot shows a lot of TB in her. Is that what the 'Appendix' means? Outbred to TB?

Appendix QH's usually have a lot of TB in them because they are bred to run and/or be jumpers usually. Another common term is a "racing" or "running" quarter horse. Ally's Dam was full TB and her sire was 1/2 TB and 1/2 QH.
Here's a description of the breed:
Appendix Horse: - A horse registered with AQHA which is the result of breeding a Thoroughbred and an American Quarter Horse that has a permanent number, or a combination of an Appendix numbered American Quarter Horse and an American Quarter Horse with a permanent number. Appendix horses are distinguished by an "X" in front of their registration number and their certificates are gold.

LOL...now you got me started thinking about bloodlines. Ally's registered name is "De Oro Chick". You won't find anything about her on the internet because she only did 2 starts on the QH track and didn't place. She does have a pretty famous family, though. Here are some pics of Ally's family. Sire Chicks Beduino I couldn't find a pic of her dam, Terra Miss, but this is her full sister Terra Chick:
