KRIS KRINGLE
Post by Lazy Horse Rescue on Jan 23, 2007, 12:00pm
02/01/2007: PER STACIE/MICKEYFAN3
I just want to reiterate that Kris Kringle is SAFE, OFF THE LOT, IN QUARANTINE. HE HAS ALSO BEEN PAID FOR.
He is still listed as Gabi was unexpectidlly unable to take him due to a sick emergency rescue and would like to see him settle into his new home sooner, rather than later.
Thank you.
Stacie

Hi everyone.
I have pretty bad news, and I'm really sorry........
As some of you might already know, I've run into some BIG problems and can't bring Kris to SD right away as planned. I rescued an older gelding who arrived last Thursday (01/18/06), and he turned out to be over 30 years old, completely starved, dehydrated, with major teeth problems and ulcers. He is not eating or drinking, had a colic last week and we almost lost him. After 4 days of IVs he is still not out of the woods. And if he pulls through, it will be about 3-4 months until he's healthy and/or stable again. So to make a long story short, until he is all better, I can't bring any horses in from auctions or feedlots - any virus, infection or disease could kill our "Old Guy", and I just can't risk that. I don't want Kris being stuck in a quarantine place somewhere for so long - he needs a loving home where he will get lots of attention, quality food and care, and where he can get examined and treated by a Vet and farrier ASAP....... And I know CBER is hurting for quarantine spots anyway.
So, if ANYONE is interested in fostering and/or adopting Kris right away, please contact CBER to get approved for adoption, in which case I would step back. His bail is paid for !!
Also, I just found out that Kris is at Deb's place since last week, and that his board is due.... For some reason I thought it was donated for the first month, but maybe I got confused. So if anyone knows anything about that, please let me, Heidi and Deb know.
I'm sorry, I'm pretty busy and can't always follow all posts on the board. So if any of these issues here have already been discussed or resolved, I apologize.
So, so sorry.........
Gabi

You know, stuff happens. I think you are to be commended for letting everyone know what is going on. Some just back out completely and are not heard from again. We'll figure something out for Kris, this is an awesome group of people. Don't beat yourself up.

Hi Gabi,
DON'T WORRY! This is not the first time this has happened. Everyone in rescue knows that the next thing through the door can change everything and that we owe the ones we HAVE first.
I'm glad to hear your old guy is still hanging in. God bless you for giving him a chance! I know you are busy and can't keep up with the threads, but if you get the chance to pop in from time to time, you'll find we're a pretty supportive bunch - and we've all been through this!
Caly

So, shouldn't he be listed on the CBER site as paid for? I'm just thinking that b/c it still has his price listed might deter some good people from inquiring. Theoretically he would be available on a gift contract, right?
I love this guy and want him to have a happy, loving home to go to when his QT is finished.

Hi Jen, he's Pending, so its OK... he has had several people asking to adopt him (at least 3) and the decision is pretty well complete, I'd say...and CBER has never marked that a horse has been paid for before when bailed...(On the website, OK?) who has time to keep all that straight these days? I can't keep these threads updated, so I KNOW that the gals who screen the applications, assess the horses, make appointments, give meds, etc......don't have time for everything and once in a while something slips....
