Spirrah is a 15.1hh filly. She is approximately 3-4yrs old. She is gentle on the ground and opened her mouth so we could look at her teeth. She seems very quick and smart to pick up new things.

not yet...there is some interest in Spirrah by someone who would be adopting her, but it is always preferable to have a back up home offer in place in case she is not adopted before shipping...would you be fully adopting her by yourself or are you offering a home in case we all need to send donations to save her? I'm not sure if you are new to CBER, but someone who is approved and can outright adopt the horse has priority over a Group Adoption. Group Adoptions are the 'Safety Net' to save a horse as a last resort...

I'm working like mad to get boarding arranged THIS WEEKEND so I can submit a complete app and adopt Spirrah and Speckles. Failing that I plan to bail them both out and hope someone can offer one or both a home until I get approved or someone else gets them. Just so's ya know... Anyone able to board or "babysit" either or both girl for me?

good luck, gratefulknits! You have a golden heart...I'm sure some nice CBERite would be able to board them for their quarantine period and perhaps longer...

Thanks cybercat! Any advice on how to get that ball rolling? I'm off to look at 2 boarding places this am. I have to get one ok'd before I can send in the app, because I'll need their contact info, vet, farrier, etc! Otherwise I'd have sent in the app last week. Keep your fingers crossed for me, Speckles and Spirrah. And send me any and all advice on getting this done! PM me or direct email (listed under my profile) Thanks!

gratefulknits, thank you for your interest in Spirrah and Spreckles!
Yay!! Your in California! Petaluma!! Whoopee!! (not too far away from me) Have you talked to Katie? She posts as watermarkfarms. She might be a little far for you, but she may know someone closer. Or pm nknight (nancik) - she seems to be pretty connected in up in your neck of the woods.
I'll pm you with my direct contact info - anything I can do to help, please let me know!!

Caly, I'm looking in Petaluma, California. I've got several good leads and am off to see at least 2 places today. The barbed wire restriction has knocked a couple places off the list but I'm working on it!

Yeah, I saw after I posted. Katie is in Santa Rosa - actually closer than I thought!
I'll pm you with her contact info too. She's an approved adopter, so that would speed up your approve - if she has room.

Thanks! And thanks to all of you on your support with this big decision. I've found them a beautiful home - big pasture with shelter, arena, and ability to move to a stall down the road, on a ranch owned by a lifelong horsewoman. Can't wait for them to get here!

gk - Sounds like heaven on earth!
With another shipment pending on 9/25, can you drum up any additional interest from your NorCal friends/colleagues/neighbors to consider some of the additional 24 horses (+ 2 foals) still on the feedlot?
We can raise funds here to help with bail/transport, etc.....but we need HOMES!

Spirrah is home! She's home, she's home, she's home! She and Speckles arrived this morning; as the truck pulled up the long drive way at the ranch, I started crying and that dang video camera jiggled all over like jelly. But my beautiful girls are here. I've never been so happy in my life. I really thought I'd be scared and nervous today, but honestly I've never been so sure of a decision as I am of the decision to save these 2 girls. As I told them this morning when I was sitting by their pens hanging out "From here on out, it's nothing but love and food!" I'm so happy, you guys! Can't stop crying with joy. Bless you all, CBER-ites. More later, must go back to the ranch to visit with my babes.

Sheesh, don't you think I have better things to do than figure out how to use Photobucket? Criminy, I have 2 beautiful girls who must be constantly admired, oohed and aahed over, and talked about!
All kidding aside, there will be pictures, I'm hoping tonight, cross your fingers that I can figure it all out!

OK, OK! I promise I'll do it tonight! But I warn you that my photographic abilities are NOT going to make me consider giving up my day job! All I seem to get are butt shots, or faces buried in hay! My father is going to come out this week to meet the girls, and he takes great pix, so good pictures will come much later, but I will give you some teaser shots tonight!

I'm thinking more like my 3rd or even 4th job! Now only if I didn't have that real job, and could be around the cats, dogs, and horses all the time.....

Got to meet & work with this one for a bit yesterday. Shes smart and very cute. I think she will make GFK a great riding partner in the not to distant future. Shes a very pretty girl, lots of energy.
