Long yearling, 13h, reg (Registration # 4820478) QH colt. This colt is halter broke but needed to be run into the alley to be caught. Once caught he was willing to lead and pick up hid feet. He does not know much but had a quiet demeanor. From the photos you can see that he is a little behind in the knee. Papers included. Please contact Shawna Byington for more information.EMAIL:tufnspendy@aol.com

The sire side of this colt is pretty nice, I know of the breeder that raised his sire & she has nothing but QUALITY horses...this poor colt went thru the wrong sale at the wrong time.

What does "behind at the knee" mean and what is the significance?

what a cute little guy. Yeah, can somebody please explain the behind the knee, and what does that mean for his riding future? With a pedigree like his, you'd think he'll get snatch up pretty easy!

Behind in the knees is a conformation fault, and depending on the degree, might exclude the horse from succeeding in Breed competitions, and might also indicate a propensity for soundness issues later on.
It is a slight bending backward at the knee.
For the average horse and horse owner, it is often irrelevant.

Is this then the same as "over in the knee" with the front knees are slightly forward of the rest of the leg?

Behind at the knee is pretty much the opposite of over in the knee.
I know of several behind at the knee horses though that are doing fine at the national level in AQHA hunter under saddle and western pleasure classes. So depending on the degree a behind at the knee horse can be sound for a long time. I have also seen several youngsters grow out of this condition.
If he does not grow out of this fault, it means he should not be used heavily for events that require a lot of torsion or concussion on the front legs if you want him to remain sound. He would probably be fine for trail riding, pleasure classes and flat classes that require him to use his hind end more, but don't require torsion on the front legs.

Yes, it is not a big deal and sometimes even makes for a real smooth trot. I would not jump.....but then I do not jump anyone anyway hahahaha! I have a paint back at the knee. No issues and he is 12 and HEAVY BIG horse.

This guy will make someone a wonderful pal. He's been really beat up. . .so, you know he isn't going to be the bully of the pack. He looks like a good guy to me. We all aren't perfect, you know. There is a place and a reason for all of God's creatures.

This guy needs a home offer so we can get him safe and give him a chance for a nice life.

I was hoping to check this thread and see some interest in this poor little guy and that he had a home offer. There's not much time left for him. He's young, he's cute, and from the posts here, it sounds like he'll be a nice horse. Someone?

:-[I can offer a home but I have to get approved for adoption or foster first. I can't afford to pay bail as money is tight and has been going to other vet bills and my Dr. bills. Pasture, feed, and wormer are not an issue what so ever..... now I need to go find the application. Thanx all.

You know if you're approved and give him a home offer, people will help with the bail.

An Angel on the Alex Brown board just posted that she paid Treasure Chest's QT, making him completely paid for (his bail was paid earlier). So, she paid QT for all four horses (Whistful & Whisper, Mr. Leo Sugar Chex, & Treasure Chest). Leaving bail still needed for Whistful & Whisper, Mr. Leo Sugar Chex. WOW. Her name is Susan. I LOVE her!!!!

Did you contact Shawna and send in an adoption application?
Edit: I just saw on the other thread where you said that you have to now send in pictures. I'm keeping my fingers crossed that the fog lifts, the pictures are sent, and your application is approved quickly. Money is already being raised on the ABR board. So far, the QT has been paid on all horses, but hardly anyting donated toward bail. It should pick up though.

Ooops, Mindy, I just wanted to mention to you that if you haven't, make sure you contact Shawna and let her know that you can provide a home for the horses. I've read before that the PS has to be contacted, it can't just be on the message board. Sorry if I'm being a nag, but I just want to make sure everything works out. Here's Shawna's email: tufnspendy@aol.com

The ABR board is trying to raise money for Mr. Leo Sugar Chex's bail. $130 is still needed. If anyone can help out, it would be great!
Edited: The money has been raised!

Can we have an update on him, please..?? I would of thought you could update..he was here when you picked up Peter ;D He is off of the lot & has a home offer, if a adoptive home comes during his QT he will go to them so we can recycle the ABR funds, if no one outright adopts him then hopefully Mindy will be approved by then.
