AGE: 20 yrs HEIGHT: 15hh GENDER: MARE BREED: GRADE QH COLOR: BUCKSKIN ADOPTION FEE: $300.00 20+ year old grade QH Buckskin mare. FLO dogs bit this mare in her fetlock, so we didn't ride her, as she was a little swollen. We did doctor her & get her some Penicillan. She is thin, her feet are in terrible condition, very long. She was sweet and was used previously as a kids horse. PLEASE CONTACT SHAWNA @ tufnspendy@aol.com FOR MORE INFO!!! sosequines.com/feedlothorse-mrsb.html

I am real partial to buckskins, especially after Popeye. Shawna can you tell me anymore about her. Does she seem fairly healthy?

Can someone 'splain to me why the FLO would allow dogs to mingle with the horses? That REALLY bothers me...

I think this mare needs a good home, i bet she will be just fine with some TLC. She looks like she just wants someone to love her. Mini MOM i think she just looks sad to be there. She looks like shes needing a worming and some other TLC. The price is great?

I think some FLO's have dogs that are used for herding the horses....maybe off trailers...into different pens...maybe poor Mrs.B wasn't moving fast enough.... She just needs weight, some good farrier care and lots of lovin!!

I agree that is most likely the situation, we know for sure she isnt a kicker. Even when she needed to be. Please someone give her a home.

I don't know how she rides because of the d**n dog. He is the family dog, but sometimes when he gets board, he lays & waits for the horse to come to feeder & bites them on the leg, he is a heeler, so its his nature. Personally I think he is a pain in the ass.
She is very underweight right now, she was really stiff on the front & that is when we discovered that the dog bit her. FLO said she was moving good the day before.

That dog has caused some trouble with these horses....it irritates me that he can get away with hurting these horses.
And it scares me that the last post was yesterday morning for this girl!! Bumping up a sweet, cute mare who needs a home to love her!!!!

If you have ever seen a heeler at work, a kicker may not be able to even nail him/her. Herding dogs are fast and work on insticnt. It should not be free to bite at the horses. They say the line between herding and killing is very slim. That is why you see so many herding dogs in the pound. Cats and poultry animals are easy pickins for them when the line has been crossed. They need good training as youngsters to control their instincts.

So sad...wish I could foster more than one at a time, but I don't have the time or money to properly care for more than one at a time :-( I'll do my best to find someone to love her!

I do too....I'm ready to go bite the dog back. Maybe I'll bring all of my dog-hating geese with me.

What does 'grade' mean?
Never mind...I found my answer.
A grade horse is a horse that is unregistered. It could be that both parents are not known, or it can't be registered because its parents weren't registered, or else the owners just never got around to sending in the paperwork. A grade horse could possibly be registered if its parentage were verified sufficiently and the parents are registered stock, or else it could possibly be registered in one of the "color" registries, such as Buckskin Association or Pinto Association, etc.

Let me know rescueall if you needs some funds. I can donate about 25.00 if you need it. If not I will give it to Mamie.I really would like to have this mare but I think it might be too soon since I just lost Popeye. I am so happy someone spoke up for her as I was really worried.

Not much time left for this girl. Isnt there anyone that can take her and then maybe rehome her later. I know its alot to ask, but if i had the room i would. I think she will be easy to place after some good meals are put in to her. And her price is low enough that maybe we can raise funds and the home offer can pay for QT.
