I just want to share that DUSTY ( ) is coming along nicely! I am able to touch him all over with my stick (right side only so far) and I can touch him with my hands from his shoulders to his nose (again, right side only lol). He also let me spray his entire right side down with fly spray. I told him if he'd just turn around I could do the left too, but he wasnt to sure about that yet.
At the rate he is going, wont be long before he'll be halterbroke & gentle!

Alrighty, here they are!
Getting to know the black panther
He's learning if he comes up to me and lets me touch his head (even for a second) I can get the flies to leave him alone. So he's starting to come up to me on his own. But until I can get a halter on him he's gonna have to deal with the flies, as I am not going to spray his face from a distance and get it in his eyes & his open sores (strangles sores). He'll let me spray his right side from his chest back, and we're working on the left.
Here he is coming up to me
I made it to his left side tonite! Woohoo! Thats my stick that I touch him all over with before I try to touch him with my hands.
He decided to show me just what he thought of that ol stick
Yummy!
Not bad for a wild pony eh?

That darn cat! I can't decide if he's just plain stupid or if he's just really that courageous. Dusty is going to be a really nice one once he feels better and you can lay hands on him. So glad he got that chance. Guess he likes the "stick game". Maybe he needs a few "horse toys" in his pen while he gets better. I bet he'd like to play helicopter with something. . .and hopefully it won't be the cat!

OMG that made me laugh!!! That cat is a little of both - stupid and courageous. He knows he better get out of the way when the hooves get too close, but he hasnt learned about the teeth yet (he about did yesterday). I sure hope he makes it to adulthood, but I'm not certain he will! lol
He is quite the character though! His crimped tail cracks me up!

When you get done with Feather and if you run out of horses to train, you can train that cat! My "panther" knows how to sit, stay, come, sit up, and shake hands (What? I work with her when I'm bored, okay? ) She was [is] fearless too....... your cat looks and acts like mine, and mine has, so far, survived into adulthood (knock on wood!!)
Feather is looking awesome! He'll be so cute when all grown up!

Feather Update!!!
This colt is AWESOME!! Since he won't be leaving now, I decided not to push his halter training and just see how fast I can get him to come around on his own. He is so much fun to mess around with!! He's turned to a really light palomino with his winter coat, so light his white legs barely show up. He's getting bigger too. I really need to get some pics!!
He'll let me touch his head, but thats it. He loves having the sides of his face scratched. Each day I can touch him a little bit more, and work a little bit further back. Bit by bit, we are getting there!! He's gonna be GORGEOUS come spring!!

Hey! What's the big idea of a Feather update with no pictures? We want pictures! (with or without cat, we aren't picky!)
And how did you get him to accept fly spray? Spirrah WILL NOT tolerate it, she knows it's really a killer monster in disguise!

How TOTALLY CUTE! Thank you Aimee for taking and posting his pictures! It makes it so much easier to be his Mom from a distance, otherwise I would be fretting about him all the time. He is doing great under your care and training. Thank you again! Kay

More Feather Duster pictures! What a treat! Thank you for the progress pictures. He looks to be more curious and trusting with each set of pictures. Thank you Aimee for doing such a great job with him, and yes, I am thrilled to have a 'Stang!

Ok Ok. Here is a pic! I will try to get some new ones today, if the sun decides to show up again.
I soooooo cant wait to be able to get that dang mud off!!!
And, maybe he's not as light as I thought... I think he looks much lighter in person though!! lol
