She was quiet to tack up, tied nicely handled quietly all and all a nice mare. This mare with a little tune up is ready to go. Does not neck rein. Do we know if she has a freeze brand and all the BLM paperwork? I wonder how long she's been out of the BLM's hands.

I've said it before, and I am saying it again....there are Mustang specific rescues with funds attached, but we need photos of the d**n freeze brands so we can backtrack and find who to go to for help. We have one day, and no idea where this mare is from. More than any other horse, a brand photo can mean life or death for a Mustang.

All we need is a picture of the blm brand on her neck, no need to talk to anyone. It will tell us where she came from and if there is potentially some help to get her out of there

The brand tells us which HMA area she is from, and specifically how old she is. The BLM is the only "owner" anyone will be contacting on behalf of a Mustang. This is a fantastic looking horse. Given her size, she is not likely to be from the more isolated HMAs, I would suspect Burns Oregon, based on her physical type.

Her not wanting to canter might have something to do with those long toes. She needs a trim! Such a beautifully built girl, no one offering a home? She is listed on Petfinder.

Short-term loan? What term? I just e-mailed the CBER contact. Is there anyone that can offer her a temporary (couple of months) home? I need to go review the new CBER rules . . . I don't want to see this one ship, but I can't come up with the funds myself (yet) and I can't take her (yet). Did anyone get any confirmation on her BLM brand?
I have Kiva (CBER Neon) who is from the Warm Springs, OR herd. I LOVE her! And this one looks a bit calmer and quieter already.

I'm really bummed that I didn't even see this girl until after 6:00 pm. I haven't heard back from her CBER rep. yet (I know they are busy folks, so no criticism intended). I'm hoping and praying that she isn't shipped tomorrow. I would feel really bummed. I'm ready to help as best I can if we can keep her off that truck tomorrow am.

I recieved a response to my Petfinder lising from someone who was willing to pay her fees and foster if need be, but it may be too little too late. I asked her to get on this board and also sent her to CBER's site.

We all pray it is not too late for this beautiful mustang.
I have to say that this board is getting harder and harder to navigate and trying to tell a new person how to use it is pretty hard.

I am really, really glad! I really like this mare and if she wasn't so darn much money with all of the fees I could have talked my husband into her. Since our next horse has to be for him he had to like the one we were picking. We are getting Addison. I just bought another horse and saddle, etc for myself so I had a hard time convincing him that I needed, Umm he needed Savannah too. The prices seem really high at this lot to me. I have followed this lot for several years now and they have definately gone up up up, especially with all of the new fees, quarantine etc. It makes it really hard to save these horses when you can go buy a totally broke horse that is sound and healthy and young for about the same price as these. It makes me very sad for these poor horses. I did adopt two years ago, a horse that came from here but was from the Rez where he was probably bought for $100 or less. His bail was $500. I have put several thousands of dollars into him and he is pretty good now but not an "easy" horse. Anyway I am still awed at how much all of you who also love horses do for these "unwanteds". It still brings back my faith in humans every time I see it in action. You are all wonderful! The people who profit on these horses and your hearts will get their returns at some point in their lives and I hope they know where their fault was. I don't know how people can feel so great about their "bloodmoney". I am talking about the original owners who failed these horses by sending them to the lot and everyone involved in making money after they are There. Good luck sweet mare!

I know the fees have gone up, but that reflects the fact that hay prices and gas prices have also gone up, WAY up. Transportation comes into play as well. There are only so many local homes available, especially when the local breeders continue to breed and sell their horses to anyone who will buy. Does anyone have any further information on this program through Ford Motor Company? I am wondering if they would sponsor the purchase of this girl for an approved home? www.ford.com/our-values/environment/nature-wildlife/save-the-mustangs/save-wild-mustangs
