Hey all - so it sounds like we have a home for Savannah? Or at least a back-up offer? I cannot take her, though I would love to. I'm a renter and I've already talked my landlord into letting me have two on the property. So until I get my own place with more room I'm stuck being a supporter and cheerleader. We are we with fees for this girl?

What a fantastic suggestion! I didn't know about this. I just went to the website and did not see a link for rescues to join the effort, so I clicked on contact Ford with the environment and Save the Mustangs as my subject. I asked them as a volunteer for this 501 rescue how could we be eligible for funding for Savannah. Gave them the website to be able to actually see her listed. If they respond to me with any official questions, or requirements, I will send on to Sam.

Hey, I know her adopter! She rescued Homer, my beautiful ginormous TB gelding, when he was going to be euth'd by his previous owner because he couldn't be used as a lesson horse anymore. She also runs a cat rescue! I hope she'll join us on the board and post updates ... I'll send her an invite to the board again. Yippee for Savannah ~ another horse coming to Sebastopol, CA! (land of the universe's best apples: the Gravenstein!)

I just have to say that you Cali girls have exquisite taste in lovely horses...You all have adopted some of the most beautiful animals off of the Washington feedlot. I am SO jealous...and grateful that you are able to do so!

Hi, So I just adopted Savannah and she is in QT with her fungus for the next 30 days. So what do I do now? I am in CA and she is in WA. I have to get her from there to here. Not sure what to do about that. And then Sam at the QT place said something about a brand search or something I guess I need to talk to her more about that. I was mostly concerned with how she was and to treat the fungus. To put her on antibiotics. or not. Should I get her feet done there or wait to get them done here by my beloved trimmer. WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO. I am glad she's cute. Anyone have in suggestions?

Congratulations Jennifer and Thank YOU for saving Savannah. Please keep us updated. It sounds like there will be another horse heading to California soon. Maybe they can go together.

That would be great. Who is it I have never done this before and it seems to be getting a little complicated.

Jennifer, get in touch with Hollie Lama in Cotati. petnplants@yahoo.com
I just talked to her yesterday, and she's looking for a husband horse for her boyfriend (I guess that would make it a boyfriend horse). GREAT home --- she's fostered for me.
I have her # if you want it. She might be great for Savannah.

Jennifer ---
Get her feet done ASAP while she's in QT. Don't transport her to CA with long feet or freshly-trimmed feet. If she is wearing front shoes, suggest you have her re-shod to keep things the same.
You'll need a 1) coggins blood test 2) health certificate and 3) brand inspection (I think?) done before she leaves WA for CA. Vet does the coggins and health cert.
Call me if you have questions. I've done this before...
I think Sam puts them on antibiotics for a few days after the lot. She knows what she is doing and is very savvy about how to care for QT horses. Just get those feet done.

I was so excited last night when I talked to Sam we went over a bunch of stuff, and now I am not sure what I told her. I emailed her again , in a calmer state to make sure she is doing Savannahs feet ASAP. Yes, she is one antibiotics. She also has a fungus. I hate fungus as I have a close Personal relationship with it.
I am hoping that Savannah will work out here. Harvey (boyfriend)has really started to love trail riding and loves Rose my horse. I(he says she is his true love) hope he will fall in love with this one too and she will work as a trail horse for us. It would be great if we can ride together.
I am happy she is off the lot and what ever happens happens and she is being cared for. I have always wanted a Belgian Draft and or a Mustang and she is kind of like both of those.

Thanks for saving this girl. If you ever want help with that brand, just PM me or Tockita (or several other Mustangers) and we will try and get it read for you.

Yes,I would like to find out more about the brand. I do not no what PM means or Tockits is. I do not a Brand inspection has to be done before she comes to CA. I was surfing the net to find out more in regards to Savannah. I just talked to the past owner of Savannah. He said that he has NO paper work for her. He did say that she came from BLM land in Berns Oregon and was from the French Glen herd. She was wild and pregnant when he got as a 5 year old. She has had no health problems until now. He also said that he had to many horses and decided to offed her and was mainly dealing with foals. Sounds like a breeder maybe.

So she is from the Burns Oregon Herd Management Area, I am getting better at this (see my post about HMAs on page one of this thread). Once summer is here, and she is all shed out, take some good clear photos of her brand and post them on her forum. The Mustangers here will help you read it. You should be able to get a new title from the BLM on her. PM just means private message, you click on the icon in the box to the left of your post, and that will let you contact a member privately. Congrats again on a really fine looking lady!
