BERTHA - is a big teddy bear, she's kind and sweet, and very gentle. She seems to be around 19 or 20, and since they can live to be 40, she'd be considered middle aged. She does have a bum right knee and is sometimes lame on it. She does better in warmer weather. From what I can tell she has been packed off of, but she let me know she has not been ridden. I first layed across her back and she did great, but after a while I went to sit up and lets just say she moved quickly to one side. I've never seen her move so fast. I do believe if her knee was better that she would be easy to break, she's such a doll! Her feet are great, and very easy to trim.

Bertha resides with me. She is no longer lame at all. No meds needed. I will get a current picture of her- she is a doll. She is over 25 years old. She is a little on the pudgey side and hangs out with Galaxy (my blind mare).

How is her demeanor, we always hear so much about mules and donkeys independent views on things?!

Bertha is a very sweet mule. She does pout if you do something that she does not like and has a very strong mind of her own. She does things because she agrees to do them- not because you can make her do anything. She is not broken to ride and never will be due to her arthritic knees. She does love Blazins son Eric.
