Babe Ruth - 20+ y/o - 15.2hh - Bay QH Type Mare
Post by cybercat on Oct 27, 2006, 9:45pm
Aged 20+, 15.2h, bay QH type mare. Babe Ruth is a nice older broodmare who is ready for a new career. She has good conformation and a great friendly eye.
She was willing to be led around with a rider on her back without problems, but would not move forward without being led. Babe Ruth showed nice gaits at the walk and trot. With a little training this pretty mare would make a nice pleasure mount..

Some girl probably pulled or trimmed her mane to make her real purdy for her new home. I just pray she gets a new home that deserves her. She seems so nice, dappled, and healthy. She's a great size and looks strong and able to go many more miles.

If someone offers her a home, mwalls is willing to help w/the funding, I think.
She is a sweet and nice looking mare, not too old and in great shape. She has had loving care, I'd bet.

She is at risk! She is not sick enough to hold back, so she could ship. Are there any home offers??? This looks like a nice kids' leadline and putzing around horse, probably calm enough to be a nice babysitter!

Okay, my stomach hurts when I see this gal, so beloved by someone who was probably tricked or deceived into giving her up like this, probably thinks this mare is lounging in a nice warm stall and safe somewhere with a loving owner who will never do a mean thing to her.
I just can't give much at all, but am offering the $10 starter to her pot. I just hope SOMEONE comes for her before it's too late! I have a feeling this is a wonder horse, just scared to death.
No one else is commenting on her; I feel like Baby Ruth's stalker!

I don't think she is getting sick, her owner probably vaccinated her, she looks so well cared for and beloved. The last i heard, no one has inquired after her, either. I'm just sick over it. I just don't want to look tomorrow. She is such a sweet, gentle, lovely mare in wonderful, well cared for condition. She could be useful to many types of people, including therapeutic riding stables. She sounds like the perfect horse for a place like that.
My kid just laid a Baby Ruth bar in front of me. I don't think that candy will ever mean the same thing to me after this.

OK how do we want to do this? Go after Snickers, he does have the lowest price on his head.
Or try to go after all of the last 5 horses? If we want to do that rember, 1 we may fail all of them, 2 it will take alot of emails and PMs.
Will we all stay online for the rest of the night to make this happen.

I am willing to pledge a $100 to Babe Ruth, I would have to work out something thru Angel fund as I can't make the payment until first thing Fri morning. Thought I would throw that out in case it will help someone move towards providing a home, I am unable to or I would give her a home. She looks to be a real love, and I agree this is the worst betrayal for this girl.
She would be such a great friend to someone's teenager.........
I hate to see her so overlooked.

Goodhaven and cande, thanks for your generous offers to help Melissa BABE RUTH !
With so little time left, what I would recommend is that you send your donations in to CBER, and then forward the confirmation email to the PS Vickie, so she at least knows there's some financial support for this gal.
I AM REALLY WORRIED ABOUT HER, she needs a home offer ASAP!

NanciK,
I am a little confused by your message.........
As I pledged an amount, but thought I would need to contact Angelfund first....and this is for Babe Ruth not Melissa......
Please let me know if I need to do something, as I know time is of the very essence.

Hi cande - you are so right! My mistake, the Angel Fund is for an ADOPTER who needs a short-term loan, not for someone who is pledging bail.
my apologies!

On the CBER thread it sounds like she has quite a bit of bail pledged, but needs a home. She is down to a couple hundred $ if it's correct.

She reminds me of beloved Tate so much, except the color, Tate refused to walk forward at first, I swear its a broodmare thing. The timing is bad, because of finances, the cost of BR, the QT, Meds and shots to get off of the lot, shipping and God forbid any major illness she may get from the lot. I'm just scared after losing Tate too.

As most of you know, I have never looked for a "free horse", I normally just try to help out with group adoptions, Although not a lot lately, because of the cost involved with Tates illness, I just recovered from that. I'm not commited to taking BR, but, I am commited to help her out.
I'm at work as usual, I'm going into a meeting for about an hour.

Per Babe's PS Vickie, late last night:
"I'm sad to say that I haven't had anyone inquiry on adopting her. I
don't know why these older gals/guys aren't more popular. They are normally
fantastic horses!"
This means that if the truck pulled up today, Babe would likely be on it since Vickie has not heard from anyone at all.
If someone is going to step-up for Babe Ruth ~ even to discuss it ~ please connect with Vickie ASAP at:

OK so how can we help facilitate this for Tatesmom since she stated she won't have web access today. Per her post she has spoken with Heidi yesterday, do Heidi and the PS's communicate. I would hate to see BR get moved into a precarious situation without someone knowing that their is someone interested. Also, I would hate to see this not work out for Tatesmom after her losing Tate. Can someone contact the PS to tell her to speak with Heidi as Heidi would seem to have the most accurate account of what Tatesmom is intending........sorry I am just feeling a frustrated with the communication fractures, once again.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Re: Babe Ruth -HOME OFFER??, NEEDS $565
Post by NanciK on Nov 8, 2006, 8:22am
Yep, it is frustrating. Based upon emails I've received from Heidi, I don't think we should count on the PS's talking to one another on a regular basis. Heidi pretty consistenly tells me that she doesn't know the status of another PS's horses - she may know herself, but she may also want to respect the proper channels of communication (as fractured as they may be...), lest she become the Quarterback for all the horses....and we know now human being can do that effectively!
So, to answer you question, I think that Babe's PS Vickie needs to hear directly from tatesmom, or a proxy, since we know she won't be online today.
cande - can you reach out to Vickie??

Ok I am new to this part of it......I have no problem sending Vicky an e-mail, but only have the info off the board and so I am uncertain of how to proceed and not ruffle feathers, but want to do what I can. Sorry for the ramble........
I will keep an eye on BR's activity and if we get down to the wire (truck coming) and have pledges for her with no word from Tatesmom then I will do what I can to contact Vicky, to see where we stand and let her know about someone being interested. Please let me know if there is something that I can help with otherwise.
