20 year old, 16h, bay TB gelding. This guy was very, very, very gentle. This first time he was ridden he was ridden without a halter and he let Jeff just get on him without a halter or anything. He was always calm and it was like he said okay you can do what you like. He is thin so with more weight on him he might be a little more horse, but he rode well and gave to both rein and leg pressure. Please contact Deb Logstrom for more information.EMAIL:AvalonMistFarm@msn.com$520BAIL PLEDGES:$260 Nanci K $55 Swissgrl BAIL STILL NEEDED: $205QT PLEDGES:$0 HOME OFFER:Multiple offers for post QT

I was just at a H/J "A" show today, the TBs wipe up all the ribbons in these shows, especially in the EQ and Medals classes. They are so smart.

Okay, The way it was organized on the old support board was a cross between "Save The Children" and a breeding syndicate.
So we need the following (same person/place can cover more than one thing)
- a place for him to live. Someone donating space would be great, otherwise we'll have to cover board
- someone to work with him - get to know him, understand his needs, likes, dislikes so he can be matched well into a prospective forever home - money :
people who would make a one time donation for: - bail - transport - QT (he's at Chuck's right?) Can someone donate QT space? - vet exam (basic pre-purchase; should be done in WA - less expensive than here) so we know what he needs and minimize any surprises
and people (6-8?) who would pledge up for 6-12 months a fixed amount ($50 a month?) to cover regular care (food, worming, farrier, teeth, etc) depending on what he needs. It will be more if we have to cover housing/board for him.
And, finally, a "point person" to make sure everything is done and people follow through and co-ordinate effort. This person will update the sponsers regularly about his situation/progress
Since he seems to be in such great shape and such a good boy, finding a great home shouldn't take that long. 12 months was the outside in the original plan - but I expect with him i would only take a few months..but you gotta plan for the worst, eh?
And...the assumption was that if he got into major vet bills we'd come back to the board for help.
So... questions? comments? suggestions?
I gotta be honest, when I first proprosed these over a year ago I got a number of pm's saying it would never work; that people wouldn't follow through. What do you think? Will they? I got a pm to go recruit over at ABR, but I don't know the people there, so have no idea if they'd follow through or not. Follow through is CRITICAL so the point person (if boarded) and/or the person housing him doesn't get stuck. And, if the model works, it can be copied again and again and again and...

Hmmm..
Nanci, it looks like I might have spooked everyone off.
C'mon you guys! It's not that complicated. We just need some people who want to own (temporarily) a piece of a TB. Okay, that didn't come out right. Temporary part ownership of a gorgeous TB until we can find him a perfect home.
Can Katie or Michelle house him? He can go with my kids, but that means more $$ needs to be raised.

Awwww....Pay Day.....20 years is nothing.
Caly, I can't house Pay Day. I am over-full, and my husband is one horse away from divorcing m (CBER Rejuevenate was the proverbial straw). I am currently supporting 8 horses.....
BUT....
If you guys can bring him down here, and find him some foster care in Sonoma County area, and he is serviceably sound, then I will commit to jumping on him and doing some assessment and tune-up, trailer him out for a trail, etc etc. so we can see what kind of training he has and what kind of home would be good for him. Plus, I will pay for Bayequest and Dreamhorse ads for him, and pre-screen potential homes. I could serve as his point person.
A sweet gentle guy like this is do-able to place, even if just for a companion horse.
Katie

I am definitely up for helping with bail and/or longterm support until he is rehomed. I'm still waiting to hear from someone here in Sonoma County about possibly fostering him; I sent her a lengthy email and invite to the board but haven't heard back yet. I won't speak for Michelle, but I don't think she has room for him at this point. If I hear anything back from the potential foster, I'll let you all know ASAP.
And pay day has always been one of my favorite days of the month, so how can you not love a horse called PayDay?

He can stay with me, but the board is $350 per month which is kind of pricey, I don't have my own land. I might be able to get a few of the boarders at my barn to help too. I agreed to be a back up home for Estrella too and I can only take one horse so either one will be fine. If you all can cover board for 6 months, I'll take care of the rest, vet, farrier, vitamins etc. I am an approved adopter and I just spent about 2k getting Serengeti fixed up and adopted out so my funds are low but with the help from those who can help I could take another.

PS.....I'm not a trainer but I'm a good rider and I could touch him up on the basics. Also there is a 17 year girl who comes out and exercises my draft mare and she would probably do a little "charity riding" for this guy.

I'd really like to see him come down to the SFBay Area. We have a huge market for calm, willing TB's.
He could stay where my kids are, or where jenm keeps her kids. Price varies from $225/mo to $500 depending on where and how much care/training/etc. We're both near Stanford University. If he came down here either Jen or I could be the point person (or an excuse to get Katie down here often!!!)

I will donate 6 weeks of board and full training for Pay Day for anyone in the Sonoma County area who takes Pay Day either as a rehoming project or for a personal horse.
My farm is located in northwest Santa Rosa.
I *cannot* take on ownership or responsibility for this horse, but I *can* offer some feed and training. I hope this offer will help someone decide to commit to him.
Time is short. It sounds like he will ship tomorrow.
