25 + year, 16.1h, TB mare. This mare is gentle and rode quiet. She does not remember much so she did not respond well to rein or leg pressure but she she was gentle and quiet to ride. She has a smooth trot but did not feel 100% sound. It was not very noticeable but I could feel it while riding. Please contact Shawna Byington for more information.EMAIL:tufnspendy@aol.com$770 BAIL PLEDGES:

Got an email from Sam, confirming Liz has a racing tattoo, but it is unreadable. So, we don't know who she is, but do know she's from the track.
Any ideas about an OTTB retirement place?

I can pledge 10.00 towards Liz. Just think how wonderful it will be to research this girl, she deserves much more than a trip on the dreaded truck, she was a hard working racehorse and then dumped by one of the breeding farms due to age. Please consider adopting her someone.

Well- looks like we've added a new member to our family (maybe two?? we'll see). I just wanted to say THANK YOU all for stepping up and doing whatever you can for these horses. Whether it's cheerleading and keeping the threads active (drjinva- thank you again!) or donating whatever you can- it all adds up to so many lives saved!! Thanks to all the FOB's and those anonymous angels out there. Just amazing work ladies!! I am so proud to be part of this group. ;D

Liz is doing very well. She has been palpated and..... looks like she is pregnant!!! Oh boy ??!!! Who would have thought- at her age??? Thank goodness she seems to be healthy. She is still at Sam's and will stay there a while longer until I get a good arrangement for her here. I am worried about her but hope she can pull through one last pregnancy and then she can enjoy a comfortable, well deserved retirement.

I've been away for a while but wanted to let all know that Liz is doing wonderfully! I relocated back home to Idaho in November and it has taken a while to get my internet connection up and going (gravel roads, no cell phone reception- I guess you'd say I'm in the boonies!) Liz had her teeth done (she has the strangest teeth!) and was palpated a couple weeks ago. Vet says she is likely due in March. She is getting a definate baby belly now and is very healthy so we are praying for the best. She is such a regal old girl and a pleasure to be around. I want to again thank all involved in her rescue- who who'd guessed with a mare this age- we'd be saving two!! I will update as we get closer to baby time....

Well -still no baby. Vet said she felt a big baby in January so you could say this poor mare is uncomfortable now. No milk yet, so we must be at least a week out. I am glad she is holding out because we have had alot of snow here. Just as it starts to melt, another storm moves through. She is grumpy, but doing well. She has been blanketed all winter and is more slick and shiny than the rest of the herd. Makes me very happy to see the old girl looking so good for this time of year. Even as fat as she is, I have caught her running around and bucking like a youngster on the few nice days we've had. So we keep our fingers crossed- she looks great so far! Updates to come....

NOT LONG NOW!! Liz started to bag up in the last couple days. I'm guessing we may have about a week yet but am getting a bit nervous.... I'm guessing she has had many a baby in her years and pray all will go well. Weather here is still unsettled- yesterday was a blizzard, today sunny and 60 degrees??!! The ground is relatively dry though and Liz has the option of going inside her stall or being outside. She seems to prefer being outside though so I plan to put a thick layer of straw down outside as the time draws near. Well- I'd appreciate good thoughts and prayers sent for her that everything goes smoothly. Here's a couple pictures of her today- oh and wanted to add the picture of her teeth. Anybody come across this before? I'm guessing she may have grazed on sandy soil a good part of her life- I don't know what else would cause this?? Teeth are very rounded and chipped.

Well I got a few pics- my darn camera is being tempermental! Thanks for all your kind words. Baby is doing great. She has been galloping the paddock area all morning ;D! I have been on the phone with the vet this morning regarding Liz though. She has been bleeding small amounts this morning. Temperature is good and she is acting normal so... vet says it sounds fairly normal. I did a thorough examination on the afterbirth (very interesting but I did start to get a gag reflex !) and it looked all intact. So I am staying home today keeping a close eye on things. Thanks again to Jen for the foal blanket- I was so glad to have it since it frosted the night she was born!
