Raz (Available) Age: 20 yr Height: 16+ Sex: Gelding Breed: Thoroughbred x American Quarter Horse Adoption Fee: $775 Contact Placement Specialist - Jen: jenn_marek@yahoo.comThis guy did not ride great bareback but did well under saddle. He was responsive in the bridle and to leg. He gave to pressure, turned and backed nicely. He stumbled a few times and might have a slight issue in his hind end but was a gentleman to handle and ride. He is named after one of my horses that I have owned for over 19 years because he could be his younger twin (good thing I know where my Raz is or else I might be having a heart attack! Raz (this horse) has a kind disposition and was a pleasure to be around.

He moves in a nice 'frame'. I'd like to see him in English tack- I bet he'd be sweet.

We have a home offer for him in California. His potential adopter will be paying for his transport and some training while he is in QT, so I'm hoping we can help her out with the adoption fee!

I am trying to Paypal $275 for Raz, but PLEASE, can someone official, post under FAQ, the CBER paypal address and Paypal %age to be added. I don't know, if I do it thru "Donations" on CBER's site, if it can be specifically allocated. Yes, I know I did it 2 years ago for Justin, but we've just moved house and I've lost all my cheat sheets!!

Raz arrived at 1 am and he's tucked in his stall (still wearing his blankie, so I haven't "seen" him yet). What I know so far: He's a little snorty and wide-eyed. Likes carrots not apples. He's BIG! I'll take pics tomorrow. Thank you everyone for helping us!

Here are the pics of his first day after a nice roll in the dewy grass. I'll try to get pics of him groomed. It took me an hour to comb out this big dredlock in his tail today (didn't want to drive to get cowboy magic!). Still a sweet boy, very overwhelmed, but he's holding it together. It looks to me like he has a stifle issue, but he has no muscle tone in his hind end and he's very stiff from the trip, so that is probably exacerbating whatever is going on. His upright conformation would make him prone to some sort of stifle problem. He seems to really like to go out for walks to really stretch his legs but he gets worried going too far. He is settling in pretty quickly all things considered! Very affectionate and already nickers for me when I come and go - nice to feel appreciated! I was picking up his feet and doing some massage and light stretches and when I put his foot down, he would pick up the next foot in line - "yeah, do this one, too!" His legs seems heavy and stiff to me and probably to him too! I'm going to pull out my horse massage book - he seems to really appreciate it.

He has beautiful eyes in that first photo. I hope it's just a matter of food, exercise and time, and he'll be right as rain.
