6 - 8 yr old, 15.2h, TB mare. This mare is bred, kind eyed and correct. She was easy to handle and friendly on the ground. Due to the mud and her being pregnant she will not be ridden. She has a kind eye and acts and looks like she has been well cared for. Please contact Wendy DeGraaf for more information.

What are the slaughterhouse rules regarding pregnant mares?? Do they slaughter them anyways? I heard it wasn't allowed. And that often they wait for the mare to drop her foal and then.............

They will slaughter the mare, and throw the fetus on the guts pile.

aren't you glad you asked Kirsten?? I know at the one in Fort Macleod they have a maternity field, they let the mares foal, then once they are a bit older, are slaughtered as well (the babies that is) I had been told that they take the foals to auction to see if they can sell them, whether that is true or not, I don't know. But usually the foals end up coming back to the plant, as the market for youngins just ain't what it used to be.

TB friends is way down here in central California............My feeling is, he has his hands full with the TBs off the race tracks here..........I wouldn't add to his stress, about horses 1000 miles away.

Well, are there some specialized ad sites for TBs....we can't let these pregnant mares be slaughtered....there has to be some way to deal with this besides just talking here about it. I will place ads tonight but advice is appreciated.

Contact her PS and make sure you are approved to adopt and then we can start rallying the troops to come up with bail for her!

**Important** Last night I contacted Lynn Hummer at Pregnant Mares Rescue about Britany and Naomi...Her reply was simple...Yes she would help us.
Now, she sent out a plea to her members to donate so PMR can take in these mares in So Cal.. they look like a wonderful place. But I did not know that Lynn is also an FOB and she innocently posted a thread asking for help to save these TBs. If I had known , I would have tried to stop her from posting there because there is an incredible amount of controversy there about CBER now because of Lavender and Meadow.
If everyone here that is able to donate something for these mares, we can ad it to whatever Lynn is able to raise and get this done fast, I mean fast, not only for the mares, but to finish before all the more posts about CBER keep going and we lose these two..
I innocently approached Lynn and she is trying to help...This is our chance to save these pregnant mares and it may be our only chance.............PLEASE HELP NOW

Lynn is trying to do this directly with Chuck. We all know how this is going to unravel and fall in a big pileof crap in Sam's lap.

Yes, I hope it works out for these mares, I've got ads posted for them that I can re-purpose to help the other feedlot horses.
But taking them without quarantine is highly risky.
And having just brought a CBER horse down to California, it ain't cheap, either!
We all know that if anything unravels here, CBER will be blamed. Sigh.

Aleta, thank you for getting Lynn from PMR involved. The important thing is getting these mares safe.
Becky, thank you for being a solid voice on the ABR thread.
