Stay tuned! The beautiful TB Hue Grant is on his way over the mountains! I am so excited. Have to go get everything ready for him. Chickadee is also on her way and her new owner is even more excited, if that is possible. Thank you CBER for the opportunity to save these beautiful horses. Diane

They arrived after a difficult trip over the pass. Jeff was pulling a lot of weight! Let me start by saying that Chickadee is stunning and her new owner could not be more pleased. She has a beautiful head and her overall confirmation is very nice, not a 10 but close! Terry is completely impressed by how she has handled thus far and he is one of the best horse person's I know, and I know many. Not only is he a great horseman but he is about as kind and gentle as they come! It's obvious that Jeff has done a very nice job with her and her future looks very bright. Hue Grant is huge and very well-fed! He is a very nice horse. Needs his feet done but other then that, looks great. I will have the vet look at him after the 1st and see what he thinks in regards to any soundness issues. These horses have been well-cared for. Thank you Jeff and Sam. I am almost ashamed to say that they look very clean compared to my muddy gals. I will take pictures tomorrow! Wow. I have taken 5 CBER horses now and rehomed 2 thus far to excellent homes. How good can it get.

How good can it get? Well, as good as people with good hearts like you.
I'm so happy to hear the update, and so happy for these 2 horses. Love and food can change the world -- horse by horse!

I will get some tomorrow. Chickadee has to be one of the most beautiful girls to ever grace the lot. Hue is a good boy and is starting to feel at home. He is a big guy but easy to work with so far. Was kind of worried about the goats this morning when I put him out in the covered arena to exercise but listened and did everything I ask. He is a very good looking guy. He is having some loose poop so have been keeping him on grass and will get him some probiotics if it's not gone tomorrow.

Hue would not stay away from me so my friend Mary asked if she could hold him! Mary is almost 80yrs and has a QH Jewel who she still rides. Have to give her a leg up and down! Dr. Friedlander and my shoer Bob W will be out to see Hue. Dr. F is always interested in what I drag home.

Mary thinks he is very nice. She and her husband used to have horses on the track. Everyone at the barn thinks he's great. And Miss Chickadee is quite a conversation piece. I took her out and played with her a bit today. She was perfect. I sent Kate more pictures of the big boy. I am hoping she will play with him when she comes home in Feb.

Have I ever mentioned that my heart melts for the big, dark bay TBs..... ?

The woman in the photo is almost 80? Wow, she looks to be in her 60s!! I love hearing that she still rides. I hope to be like her. There is a woman nearby here who rides dressage, and she is something like 86! We just attended the birthday of a family friend who turned 100 years old. She still lives alone, gardens, and walks without a cane. As I get older, I am more and more interested in seeing what people do past 60!
I love Hugh Grant. He is really handsome, and TB all the way. Did you ever get any tattoo info on him? What are you planning to do with him? He is really cute. Like Nanci, I am also a sucker for bay TBs. I always seem to have one living with me.

I will run his tattoo. Depends on what is story is as to how much I will make public! I know all of the trainers at EMD and many in California. I don't want to cause any problems. I want to thank all of you who contributed to his bail. My goal is to rehome him so I can save another. The vet is coming at noon to check him over. I will let you know what he says. He has around 12 "rescues" from the track himself. We have a day time winter pasture for the geldings but don't want to turn him out until I am sure he is settled, and we look at introducing him to the other two or three that are out there!

Great News! Dr. Friedlander looked at Hue Grant and said he is beautiful. He said he is a real find. He said some other things as well but I am going to wait until I run his tattoo and the blood work comes back to let you know. Hopefully we will have a wonderful surprise!

Well, I know he is Washington bred and his last year of racing was 06. I should know who is is later today! Did I mention that he has a large trachea and a slow heart rate. A heart like Secretariat according to my vet. Dr. Friendlander has never seen a horse like this and he has seen thousands of TB's. He is very anxious to know what his breeding is as well. The blood work should be back today. While he has no obvious health issues, I am holding my breath. Did I tell you Jamie backed him last night and he was perfect?

I have info on Hue. All his blood work is back and normal. The vet says "You have yourself a very nice horse." I watched his races on Calracing. He only won one race. Not the fastest boy but showed heart. Dr. Friedlander has ordered me to start riding again! I know the trainer who had Hue. Maybe someday I will ask him about him. Thank you to all who contributed to this horse. Nanci, I know you donated and that you love the TB's. We did good. Jazzing Around had a very nice race record and sired many nice horses. Thank God for CBER and Hue's chance. As endo says, "You only have one year to prove yourself. When the gate's open, run like your life depends on it." Perhaps not an exact quote but close!
