If you haven't ridden a gaited horse before, you won't believe the difference.

Of Course she was only riding when I was... but they are coming to the trail ride this weekend so I will have lots of opportunities! she just cantered him under saddle for the first time... and he did great! He is 'NOT' gaited... so says the trainer. He was also started over from the beginning (if he had been before), so he had two months of groundwork, and only a month of under saddle with trainer... now, teen is doing some wet saddle pads... and he LOVES her... she ponies him all over with her older arab, and he and the arab love each other so that works awesome!.... and he is getting to see the world, next to a steady-ish friend... she says Storm is WAY less spooky than her trusy old man... I like that....

So, Shimmer, now Stormy, ponied up and down Mt Diablo for 4 hours yesterday and did GREAT..... the old riding horse spooked all over, and Stormy was like a rock. never spooked once... she nearly changed horses a few times she said! LOL! I'll get pics of them today, it's a horse campout, but only 4 minutes from home so we aren't camping...

PICTURES!!! Shimmer, now Storm, was on our trail ride yesterday too! he is a great horse, and this girl is perfect for him... and bless her heart ponied him for 4 hours one day then 3.5 the next! down winding mountain trails, thru water, over bridges, single tracks and all... they did great! he is still a slight thing... but she is a tiny person, so they will be a great match... oh, and after all that ponying all day, both nights she took him out and rode for an hour or two in the arena! sheesh... teenagers! But Storm did it! Good thing HE is young too!

You will note that the only horse giving her any problems is her 'trusty old horse'! LOL! she was just tickled with Storm the entire weekend... he did what he was told, crossed water for the first time... stayed back on single track... and unlike her 'trusty steed', never spooked or acted foolish! LOL!!! but aren't teenagers great? she never DID get tired of leading one while dealing with the other fussing! (and he wasn't as bad as it looked... I seem to have gotten two pics of them fussing, but most of the 3 1/2 hours was quiet and fun!)
