Age: 7-10 PS: jenm - jenn_marek@yahoo.com Katie was used as a broodmare and originally came from Canada from a PMU farm. She is halter broke and willingly picked up her front feet but was a little hesitant about her hind end. She is very cute and willing but does not know much more then behaving in the halter. Sound at time of assessment.

I would love Katie and Shannon to go to the same home. One that had two little girls...
Well, I can wish big for them, right?!

No, I don't think so. On the CBER site, Katie has 'knobbly' flanks, and Shannon is smooth. However the DO both have exactly the same write-up........a bit suspicious, but maybe true as they came from exactly the same environment

I just did some research online since 2 of these mares are Fjord crosses. The history of the Fjords is amazing. According to the National Fjord Registry....................."The Norwegian Fjord Horse is one of the world's oldest and purest breeds. It is believed that the original Fjord Horse migrated to Norway and was domesticated over 4,000 years ago. Herds of wild Fjord Horses existed in Norway after the last ice age. Archaeological excavations at Viking burial sites indicate that the Fjord Horse has been selectively bred for at least 2,000 years. The charming, gentle disposition of the Fjord Horse is its most outstanding quality. They are hardy, long lived, agile, sure-footed, and willing. They love attention, are "people oriented", and are happiest when they are working. They learn fast and have an amazing ability to retain what they have learned even after long periods of inactivity. Their cool temperament and graceful, balanced gaits both under saddle and in harness, make them the ideal family horse. They are used for schooling horses for the young or inexperienced rider, yet are large and powerful enough for adults to ride and enjoy. " This info is from their website www.nfhr.com/aboutnfh.htmlBecause these are really special horses, I emailed this national registry and also 3 American regional organizations to see if they can help us in any way........... Look, someone trimmed her mane and spiffed her up.
Could they be that ignorant of what her likely fate is going to be after they dropped her off at an auction?
Katie and Shannon look like bookends. Will probably go to their end together, too.
Can't someone help these two?

Now she still has a chance since the truck won't be coming until Thursday! We have until Wed. 6:00 PM to raise funds. We can't just let her life to consist of beeing used as a broodmare and then disposed of. I bet she has lots of love to give! She needs a home to prove it.

I just spoke with a woman who is in love with Katie! She already has a pre-approved application and is on her way home to send in her adoption funds. We just need to help her a bit with QT.
Please help out with Katie's QT if you can!!

Great news. Any idea how she found Katie? I contacted a Fjord list owner last night who agreed to send out a huge email on Katie & Shannon to other Fjord fans. I was wondering if we got any response from them....
So happy. Katie (the person)

Jen, any chance this potential adopter might like two? We can get money together both these girls to stay together, if she does.
