I believe these two were recovered about a month later, safe at someone's house after being loose for a while.

Here's the info posted under alerts as well: Becky Batson's beloved mare and foal went missing last weekend. Please read her email below, and contact her with any information. This is a very uniquely colored mare and would be hard to miss! Unfortunately the picture of the foal is a couple of months old and may look a bit different at this time. If anyone is at any auction houses, notices new horses in the neighbors yards, etc, please let her know!!! BECKY'S CONTACT INFO:

I know that you are based in Washington, but maybe you would know of who I should contact in the area of Yreka, Ca or Medford, Or area that checks the slaughter bound horses. > > I had taken my Appy mare and her 2 month old filly up with us to visit relatives in Yreka (we live down near Sacramento) this Memorial day weekend to ride on the trails while we were there. The mare disappeared early Monday morning 5/28. We think she got spooked by a bear. We have not seen her since. It doesn't seem possible for anyone to have stolen her as no one knew she was there, but my fear is if someone finds them and tries to make a little money rather than to return them. I just want to be sure to cover all my bases, so if there is a rescue group that watches the slaughter houses I would like to make them aware. I have notified the Klamath National Forest Supervisor's Office and the Ranger district in the Fort Jones area. We have notified animal control in Yreka and many people in the area around where she was lost. My father in Law has handed out flyers and > we are taking more up this weekend to post along with a small search party on horseback, but it is a VERY large heavily wooded area. > > If you know of who does what you do in this area please let me know. The mare is a 14.3H buckskin near leopard very sweet and friendly with a 2 month old solid bay filly at her side also very friendly. I am attaching pictures unfortunately they are not current, but from when the foal had just been born, but should give an idea of her looks and color. I appreciate any assistance I can get. I am offering a reward of either $200 cash or a yearling appy gelding if they would rather have a horse to keep."
