This poor little guy looks like he is horrible pain. I am not sure if the pain is a result of the abnormal hoof growth, or the hoof is an indication of something seriously wrong with him, so it grew that way to compensate for an injury and not walking properly. The way he is so scrunched up is sad.

Poor guy, I think that the best thing that they can do for him is save him and put him down. It looks like he would be lame for the rest of his life, how sad! Poor Baby!

Wow.
So sad to say, but neglected, untrained ponies will be very hard to place. I hope they will be realistic about what they can do, and consider putting some down.

I can't quite figure out what is going on with that rear hoof...it is so large compared to the other ones...and it looks almost like he has a tin can stuck on the hoof...
Have Beth and Peg seen this pic?
And I can't believe that someone hasn't bought this little guy already and whisked him off to the vet.

Any news on this guy, Little C? In my opinion - from the photo it looks like he's currently suffering and should be the first off the lot.....of course, pics can sometimes be deceiving, but the way his little back is hunched up......$275 is so little but between Bailee's vet bills and some house and car repairs, I just don't have it this month......

I hope someone saves this little man's life. No animal should ever have to suffer like that.

I contacted them via the e-mail on their website to see if we can do some separate fundraising for him ahead of the others. It looks like they're doing it in order?

I've never understood the way in which the order of saving the horses is established by NorCal Equine Rescue. Many people have wondered, but I've not seen an explanation anywhere.
Thanks for reaching out to Shirley directly, this is what she posted on ABR BB: "I'm just not sure what can be done for him, poor guy. We'll have him looked at as soon as we can, and do whatever is best for him."
Please let us know if there is a euth fund started for this little guy.

I contacted via the website also and offered to take the poor guy and euthanize if needed. Haven't gotten a reply, so I just posted a note on the ABR board to her as well.
Peg (and Beth doesn't know this!)

I only think "Little C" should be put down, there's no reason any of the others should be put down (watermarkfarm).

Beth or Peg...do you have any idea of what is going on with that hoof? I still can't quite figure out what we're looking at...

I only think "Little C" should be put down, there's no reason any of the others should be put down (watermarkfarm). Certainly nobody wishes to see ANY of them put down, but there is a limit to how many unhandled, sick ponies rescues can responsibly place. "Saving" them is just the start. Finding them appropriate homes that will put time and $$ into them is the hard part. Katie

Shirley and I have been in contact about this guy. She will get better pictures and I'll have more info tomorrow.
I can't imagine that he will be rehabable, but have made the offer. If he is to be euthanized I'll post a note and we can collect funds. He is currently in Reno.

Still talking to Shirley about this pony, now knows as "Twinkle Toes." She is getting a bit of grief for considering euthanasia with this guy before trying something to help him. So we're still the probable home. Tentatively the plan is (if we end up with him) to do his Xrays and initial "trim" under HEAVY sedation so power tools can be used. We still have no idea why his feet are like that.
And, if euthanasia IS the best option for him, we'll make that call at the time. I feel sorry for the little one.

Not to butt in but Nor Cal doesnt decide which order the rescues are done in, they just ( used to ) update the website for the feedlot horses to help out .
