I can't believe how cruel people are: This Yellow Lab b*tch was abandoned pregnant and ready to whelp any day in the Tri-Cities WA. She desparately needs a place for her to have her puppies off the street ( it could be very temporary ) while the local dog rescue finds a foster home... does anyone have a spare stall for a few days - anything would help? Rescue would supply food and supplies whatever's needed but we are all full of dogs and we have to go outside our usual group to ask for help for her. I know it's not a horse but the dog rescue POPS, animal shelter and humane society are either full or over-whelmed or don't accept strays. Any ideas? cwinterburn@yahoo.com or 509-492-1331

I don't know where you are located, but there is a very good program called WAG. Maybe try contacting them, they might be able to help her; here's their link (they're located in Sequim/Port Angeles): www.welfareforanimalsguild.org/Let me know if I can help, I can't take her, but I can try help locate a rescue to help her.

We're in the Tri-Cities, Pasco, Richland, Kennewick - south of Yakima? I'm not sure the Sequim folk would come over here ..

If I were closer I would take her and let her whelp out here. Could set her up in my tack room in the barn - heated, clean and I have a camera to keep an eye on her so can rush out when puppy delivery starts.

Where is she now? Does someone have her in a safe place? How long do you think it would be before you could place her in a foster home?

On second thought - if you can get her to western Washington - and can keep a secret(from my hunny!) I could whelp her here and care for pups.

She is on the streets - in Benton City, POPs is supplying feed for her ( I think a neighbor agreed to put out feed but doesn't want the dog and won't help more than that). She is definitely not safe - she is starting to bag up and people are estimating a couple of days until she whelps. I only learned of her this afternoon. I can't promise how long it'd take to find a foster home... we're trying everything we can now. It usually isn't that long but its hard to move a b*tch and puppies for a few days. I was just sick when I heard about her; I'm full now too, but I've been trying to think of how I could help her - I know there are Tri-Cities people on this site and I thought maybe someone would have a spare stall.. Cutie Pie - Ya want her- we'll drive her over!

Cutie Pie: I could bring the dog but I don't know about getting it past your husband. I guess we could send him a stip-o-gram to the front door and while he's distracted ... what? sneak in the dog and hope he doesn't notice you 've got more canines? Think it's work?

I am busted already Didn't see him come in while I went to the bathroom. lol. I am discussing with him right now. My only concern is if the girl had anything that could be transmitted to my 2 dogs. Do you have any idea what she is pregnant by?? doesn't matter.... I am working on him now will let you know ASAP! Sara

Cutie Pie: I'm kidding... I think we've got to find something local- I can't see making a 5 hr drive with a strange PG dog- with my luck she'd have them in the car on the Pass! I'll keep you posted, though- I really hope someone from the Tri-Cities will have a spot to loan. I'm going to try to go out this morning and see about the dog in person- I would have gone last night if I hadn't heard about it so late.

Be sure to quarantine her and those puppies. You don't know if she's had shots or not. . .and. . .if not, those puppies will have no immunity. Poor things. We get a lot of them up here in eastern Washington. AND, if the shelters get them, they usually won't adopt them out. They are all killed if a foster home can't be found. If not too far along, they'll spay them before allowing them to go home with an adopter. Tragic.

What's the latest with this gal?
I was going to offer her a temporary home....for some reason thought she was down my way but see she's not....I'm in Cali. I'm sorry!
Please tell me she's got somewhere WARM to sleep and have those puppies!!!
If worse comes to worse.....a plastic kiddie pool makes a good whelping box. A square wood sided box w/ a 4" shelf approximately 6" off the ground all the way around is even better. Givs the puppies someone to roll to if mama rolls onto them.....we never lost one puppy with that.

The Yellow dog is off the street... it's in a temporary home and I found it a permanent home... and the rescue will place the puppies! Success... thank everyone for thinking of her and the offers of help!
