Sandy's website is down - and right now she's not able to get another up and running. She is trying not to take horses in at this time. She has probably over 50 head needing homes, but she does the bulk of the work herself, in addition to being the care provider for her ailing grandmother. If anyone can provide homes or pass the word to potential adopters - Sandy desperately needs our help. I know she has several young mares that are perfectly sound - but not necessarily halter broke. If she is convinced it's a good home - she would most likely waive any adoption fee. Keep in mind though - she's struggling to make ends meet like the rest of us - and those adoption fees help her buy food for the rest. She will often transport - or we could help her if need be. Any time I feel overwhelmed - I think of the numbers of horses Sandy has helped and currently has - and suddenly the burden isn't as bad. Darla Strawberry Mountain Mustangs

Can we help her by putting pics and descriptions of her horses on this board? I volunteer to help her online too...I think I'm too far away to physically help...

Contact Sandy by emailing her at eveahr@earthlink.net or by calling one of the numbers above (the first post). Part of the "delay" is that she really doesn't have alot of time to get out and get new pictures of all the horses. The best thing to do is see if you can set up a time to just stop in and see what she has.
I will say that she has a gorgeous little flaxen sabino filly - minimal white (but with the splashe on her belly and a big blaze), a couple of very stout (Qtr type builds) bays, a black and white pinto that was a victim of abuse and is now aggressive (if you're not experienced - don't even ask - this girl needs lots of help) .... and many many more. She has many older pasture pets as well. Just horses that would make great yard ornaments (hey - don't we all have those anyway???) or companions.
If I can get north to her place - I will see if I can get some pictures and keep them on file.
Thanks everyone

Andee, our hoof trimmer, is scheduled to come out as soon as Brunhilda arrives. She works with Sandy at EVEA. I will ask her if she has the time to get over there and shoot some photos of the available horses. Perhaps we could get Andee involved this way, and help Sandy move some of the horses? I will let you know the minute I know anything. If you can think of anything else that would help, please let me know. It sounds like Sandy needs a donation fund started, like a general fund. I will ask Andee about this, also.
Thank you so much for posting for EVEA!

Yes - Sandy speaks very highly of Andee. Andee just took a mini from her - one she's had a hard time placing and who is prone to founder.
I'm sure she would very much appreciate a donation fund. =)

Hah! Don'tcha love the companion or breeding choices...how about- cart pulling, visiting schools and nursing homes, parade horse, training horse for very small children who want to learn to groom a horse just their size!.....wonder what the reason is for just giving it away? My last two were given to me just because their owner was tired of feeding them and wanted to concentrate on her big horses...
and you don't know that I have 6 llamas and we have been trying to figure out how to disguise a horse to look like a llama so my hi tech engineer hubby won't notice...

Oh I just LOOOOVE the breeding option. Gee, wonder why there are so many horses out there needing homes now? Because some yahoo somewhere couldn't pass up that $150 stud fee - regardless of the fact that neither animal was breeding material (physically or mentally) and that neither owner had any intention of following through with the baby and taking responsibility for it's LIFE instead of just the paycheck..... rant rant rant. Don't get me started. I'll shut up now. This ad has been in the paper for a couple weeks. I hope that means they are being picky about who gets her.

Oh boy...I go to Roseburg all the time to visit my father, he's in the veteran home down there...I can hook up the trailer in a blink of an eye Leanne!!! Sandy is AMAZING, and actually I just spoke to Andee about her taking Rosie... This is Rosie last summer a couple months after we got her...Andee is in LOVE with her, but can not take her right now because she is fostering the mini with laminitis problems....SMALL WORLD.... Here is our Mini, they are great pasture ornaments or just fun to dress up!!!

I sent her an e-mail last week because Lisanne and I were considering volunteering for her to help with anything she may need, including chores, donations, etc. She sent me back an e-mail that said she was closing the rescue and moving to Eastern Oregon. She said she was trying to talk a lady that lives near Springfiel into taking over some of what she does. She must have been talking about you Shelbert
