Came across this website and book today and found the concept very interesting ... basically, it describes how to design and build your horse pasture environment in a way to encourage strong hooves (barefoot), offering the horse various choices to provide stimulation and healthy daily exercise: www.performancebarefoot.co.uk/page64.html"Each day the horses can choose which water source to drink from. They must also walk over abrasive surfaces to reach water. They can choose which route they take too. Offering opportunities to make choices creates a more interesting and stimulating environment. The horse also have logs and telegraph poles to navigate round or even jump over should they wish to get somewhere in a hurry. The sand area offers a different texture to roll on. These are the same type of opportunities that the feral horses choose in their environment, choices which make them move many miles per day and create strong, healthy robust hooves."
