I'll move this to the Horses section, but here is a video of her taken a couple weeks ago. www.youtube.com/watch?v=lZJ9JwB6TmYHard to believe she almost didn't get a chance! And, hard to believe she's a year (on March 14!) mta: click on "watch in high quality" or the video picture isn't as good. She's pretty quiet the first minute, but then there's a bit more activity. ;Dmodified title from "Diva is a yearling" to "Kaleigh, Diva, and Angel" so I didn't have to start yet another thread!

I don't have the (in)famous Stanford sweatshirt on, but it doesn't matter - she completely covers it up now!

For those who don't know - or don't remember - Diva suffered a "playground injury" to her stifle back in October. She endured a total of 6 months stall rest and gradual rehab with her good humor and Diva-tude intact! As you can see from the clip - she's fully recovered and tackling the hills with aplomb.
She was 3 legged lame when it first happened so I am thrilled at this outcome!
And, much thanks to Founder Rehab for taking on the last 3 months of her recovery!!

Poor little lame thing For those who remember her, the large white draft nipping at the baby is Taffy. Nice video (well, except for our broken arena fencing!)

Just fyi, her 'normal' attitude is the one she gives Diablo, the 'other' formerly lame horse we have... hehe... he's the one she double barrels at near the beginning...
and the other sorrel who gives a big buck is poor, old Rocket... LOL!!! The little princess had a blast telling the 'boys' who could play with her and who she was going to ignore!!! Look at her tease the appy gelding... Bliz... 'oh, hi big boy'.. 'GET away... '... hehe... THAT's the little Diva girl we know and love!! xxx ooo... She is gonna be a tall, fast girlie Caly!!! better start those jumping lessons now!!!

SHE LOOKS AWESOME CALY! Your big girl has really grown into a beauty. And I was going to make a remark about how Stanford would be covered if you had your sweatshirt on, but then I read under the pic! I am SO glad she's made a full recovery and is doing so well. Loved the video. It was kind of funny cuz I was thinking she looked like she wanted to jump over that broken board on the arena fence. Then the next shot she was on the other side of the fence! hee hee I agree w/Beth. Better start those jumping lessons! Lucky duck! Tell me my Founder Rehab Friends IS THAT MY SHIMMER IN THE BACKGROUND? As i was watching the video I was thinking, "Boy, that horse looks like Shimmer's double. But NO, can't be." Now that I read the rest of this thread and know where Diva is, I realized, Hah! Gotta be!!!!

I collected all the threads and moved them to the TB section! I haven't posted pics of Kaleigh and Angel in quite awhile. We had a little "spa day" a few weeks ago and here are the pics: The chestnut in the last picture is Opie, an older QH who's the number 2 guy in the herd. His buddy, Gyp, is number 1 and the two boys have taken care of my girls since day 3 of their arrival there. I love those boys! Here's Gyp with Angel. Kaleigh was fine with the whole bath business, but DO NOT WASH MY FACE!!! ;D Seriously, she is so easy to wash (except for the face). She just stands there. The only reason I had the leadline in my hand is cause nothing, not even a bath, takes precedence over a snack. and there was still some grazing to be had in the catch area. Yes, their tails look like, well, nonexistant. I would blame Sir Prize (he ate his mom's tail) but he was still away at training when this happened.

It's been quite awhile since I posted anything. Here are pics of the mares from yesterday. Yes, Kaleigh looks pregnant, but she's NOT! She seems to gain and hold weight very easily. And, yes, she's been dewormed and vet checked. She's fine. She's just fat. They're out on a 15 acre pasture, in a herd 24/7, so they get plenty of exercise...... walking around....... eating..... They're both happy girls. Kaleigh got over the shock of sleeping outside, on the ground! (gack! Where's my shavings!) a long time ago, and has learned to be a horse in a community of horses. It's heartwarming to see - but brings it's own challenges. She's become less, uh, co-operative as she explores her place in the world... and my place in hers..... I have to remind her I'm STILL the boss mare! LOL! It has been such a blessing to have them out there. The past few months have been grueling and their Auntie JenM has been keeping an eye on them when I couldn't get there. They couldn't be in better hands. Now, as my work winds down (good news/ bad news) they'll have BOTH of us after them. Vacation's over girls! ;D ;D

Raz looks about as far along as Kaleigh . Oh, man - I'll never take my horses out 24/7 pasture again. Let the other horses tire them out! Hey, any updates on Rosy?

Rosy is doing fine. She's with jtjedi and the current goal for her is to put on weight. She's the opposite of Kaleigh. K lives on air; Rosy eats pounds and pounds of hay and grain and she's gains weight s-l-o-w-l-y. Jamie says she's very sweet, very co-operative, stands like a stone for the farrier (uh.......Kaleigh?) and generally disproves the whole crazy-dangerous-OTTB rep that preceeded her. I have a blog set up for her, but we're not posting yet cause she's spending her days basically, well, eating. LOL!

She is stunning, isn't she! And she is such a GOOD girl (unlike her mama. : Beth says they haven't "worked" with her - just the handling for farrier and whatnot, but she is very good on the lead and has the whole pressure/release thing down, and she's reasonably patient while tied...for a nearly-2 year old. She's had everything I wanted for her yearling year. Babies to play with, cranky ex-broodmares to tell her what's what, and a herd to teach her life skills. After being in a stall for 5 months (for injury - and initially mis-handled recovery) as a baby, the past year has been heaven on earth for her. And it shows. I am very indebted to Beth, Peg, and their family and "team" for their kindness to me and to Diva.

She is gorgeous. Man, she looks like a horse and she's younger than Trevor. Trevor still looks like a baby. My trainer keeps saying he's a late bloomer. I have to get some updated pictures of him. She definitely looks like she is having fun running.

LOL! No, her 'tude is intact!
I have some more pics that I'm hoping photoshop can brighten up as they are VERY dark. They are of Diva running in the arena with some of her buddies. She is a world-class bucker!! Beth says she's "very light in back" and also said she has "helium up her butt" and "she may be great in 10 years, but the next 5 years are gonna be hell" LOL!
She's probably destined to be a jumper. You know, the ones that clear the fence and then celebrate by throwing in a couple bucks before the next fence....
She's so much fun to watch. She is just a joyful, joy-filled filly!
mta: spelling again!! Okay...going to fill up on caffeine!
