We lost our Alaskan Malamute Matriarch Duchess today. She was 14 years old. Our first Malamute, and ultimately responsible for our current rescue, Moonsong Malamute Rescue www.moonsongmals.org. It is now her legacy. May she wear her silver harness with pride, she certainly earned it. We love you sweet baby, run like the wind!

I'm so sorry for your loss ... it doesn't matter what kind of animal it is, when we lose a companion it is loss and cause for grief. I'm so very sorry. What more fitting legacy could any animal have than to be the inspiration for an organization that saves the lives of others!
Rest in peace, Duchess. And hugs to her human family left behind.

I am so sorry for your loss of Duchess, and it's very cool that she is the namesake of your kennel...............
My first Newfoundland was named Raintree's Benevolent Briggs, and he was the best - I still can't talk about him without getting upset. He was my first AKC Champion, my first therapy dog, my first Search and Rescue dog, and absolutely *the best* representation of the breed. I named my kennel after him, Briggsbay Newfoundlands (his call name was Briggs), and he lived to be 13yo. Man, do I miss that dog! He's been gone for 6+ years now, but it still hurts...........
I hope you can remember the good times.........
