Im new to the board (didnt know it existed) and Im not the original person who rescued Iliad from the feedlot. I was told that didnt matter and was encouraged by a fellow BAENer (jenm here) to come here and post. So here goes.
Iliad belonged to one of my students (now a good friend). I think she owned him for 2 years. She adopted Iliad and Odyssey, from what I understand they were a driving pair, from CBER. However I was also told Chuck told her that the guy who brought them to the feedlot didnt know what he was doing. There was a driving accident (wreck) and Iliad hurt his stifle. He was off in the hind end for about a year but he is sound now.
Ive owned him for a year and a half and have not put in consistent training due to lack of time. I teach and train and the goal is for Iliad to be my husbands riding horse. If anyone has, or knows how I can get his original picture and description from the feedlot posting, I would enjoy seeing/reading it. I was told the photo was of Ily and Oddy being roman ridden. I asked my student if she had it but she said she didnt save it but wished she had.
With his former owner we did a LOT of ground work. Ily was scared, very difficult to catch and very difficult to trim. We made great progress but his owner became pregnant with her 3rd child and we had to stop the progress to riding. Then Ily almost bit her young son (bared teeth/pinned ears/mama yanked sons arm away) so she had to make the heart wrenching decision to find Ily a new home.
Here are some photos from some training sessions this past weekend. He is really green under saddle so I am starting him over.
Lateral flexion
some work in the round pen
Working in the outdoor arena, working on the trot
This is a photo from 1-1/2 years ago, shortly after we got him. My hubby was scratching his favorite spot.
Being led by my hubby

And here is a link of a round pen session from 1-1/2 years ago of Ily and my hubby. I had done a session with him, with hubby watching, but then I ran into the house for a few minutes. I came back out and hubby was in with Ily, so I grabbed the camera.
