rescuesonly.proboards59.com/index.cgi?board=general&action=display&thread=7790Molly and Adisa are ready for a new home they are doing wonderfully these pictures are about a month and a half old but Molly continues to gain weight and I got on her without saddle and just a halter and she did great. She was a little rusty but it looks like she has been ridden in the past. She is up to date on worming, shots and foot trims. She did have some absesses due to poor foot care in the past and is doing very good with no problems since. I am asking 750.00 for the pair to help with covering some of their expenses.

Molly and Adisa have been adopted by a wonderful family in Bonney Lake.

CONGRATULATIONS Penny! Another happy success story! Do you happen to have posted online somewhere the history of their recovery? What you fed Molly/how often, when you wormed and what the routine was so as to not shock her system etc? what supplements/probiotics you used etc. You did an amazing job with her -seeing her first photos, one was cautiously (sp?) optomistic as to a healthy live foal even being possible. Thanks, Penny :-)

really I followed Sara's advise with the feeding, probiotics and 2 cups foal lac a feeding, loose minerals, beet pulp, LMF gold and Senior Glow ADM, Mega Dose (horse guard). she was wormed monthly as the vet recommended She also got started on Oil 1 and half cup morning and night after she got stable. here is a photo from when we went camping in September Molly was a wonderful horse and crossed rivers swam with not a problem.

Yep that is me, I don't know what I was doing with my hands maybe fixing my coat or something... I would tell my friends that I instruct on riding that you can't exactly stop a run away horse with your hands in that position. Although Molly would never be a runaway

I love that picture. Wish I was brave enough to take a foal with me on a trail ride.

It really was a blast and she loved it too, by the time we were done swimming and going though the river she was pretty darn pooped though. I take my babies with me trial riding but the perch baby has to be ponied because he has a mind of his own and will go where he wants not necessarily with his mom... Although he will be going to his new home this month he turned 6 months and is ready to be weaned. I think he will be bigger than his mom at 17.2hh

Update: These two are back at my place and will be getting a vet check on Friday. Sometimes things aren't quite what they seem. I sure am glad I have adopters sign a contract...

Hope it all works out the 2nd time around. Love the picture of you three trekking on down the river. That was great experience for a youngster!

Thanks it sure makes them trail ready and less flighty when they grow up if you take them on trails and such.

be careful about taking a loose foal on trails tho! I had a concussion when I was a teenager from a colt who wanted me off his momma while I was riding on a trail ride, he got me in the head and knocked me off and OUT. not a good thing. wear a helmet, and always pony!!!
the other problem would be as noted on our BAEN recently, loose horses can and do spook and can and do run into places they ought not be, but more importantly they spook passing horses!!! One rider was thrown just due to spooking at the loose horse along the trail as this woman was 'walking' her two horses and allowing one to follow loose... argh.

I hear what your saying pnp4kidz, I've seen it happen too.
But gotta tell you 4 out of my 5 come to a whistle, kiss or there name ASAP at the ranch or on the trail or they just stand there & watch me.
My 5th stands there & waits for us to go to her.
It kind of sucks, in a good way, we get to the ranch & as soon as our horses spot us there at the gate winnying, nicking, they wont shut up!
The barn were at all the horses & people are really calm & on the trail everyone is REALLY polite, hikers, bikers, riders & dog people.
Just my 2 cents & I know were weird anyway.

I am not near brave enough to take my babies out on trail rides without leading them. Heck, they barely manage to follow mom between pastures. In my experience when a foal panics for whatever reason, no amount of whistling or calling to them helps, they just panic. I have to agree with Beth.. but that is a fricken CUTE picture, I hope you find them a great home this time around.

I would never do this with my colt because he is exactly that way he has to always be on a lead he doesn't follow his mom at all. Even with his lead he has tried to jump on his moms back while I was seated atop. I have had to be very vigillant with him since he was a baby he has no fear and would want to play with me in the field trying to jump on me. I actually had to start carrying a whip out there. He no longer does this thank GOD because he is 8months old and a perch it would be very dangerous for anyone if he did he is very stout. Adisa on the other hand has always been very level headed and will follow her mom anywhere. However I would never have her free ponied near roads. Now she is about 8 months old she will start being ponied behind other horses as she is now weaned...

Oh she is still here she is also available. with the last adoption failing so miserably I will be adopting them out separately that way I will be able to have a little less stress if I have to remove from adopter.

Just drives me crazy I have to put them in the house to stop them from herding the horses. They do wonderfully our on the trail no herding just in the field. Ever seen a Dane try to herd a horse STUPID PUPPY

I was wondering what kind of dog that was. Just exactly how big is she? And are you saying that is a PUPPY?
