Anyone know the story on this? I see she is listed on the new non-CBER-CBER-board (AKA RO v2 LOL)...
Frankly I am surprised that CBER Pres Diane wouldn't have piped in there when one of her CBER horses is listed on CL as breeding stock.

Isn't OCD a hereditary condition?

Tash which "jade" are they referring to; the one originally rescued and cared for by me that was a grey and a yearling when I took her in, or a young TB they listed in the last year that they used that name for again? The one I had did not even have a hint of lameness or OCD, I had her for about 2 mos in care and QT, and then Diane took her, initially to board at Deans and then to a new place she picked out, she had her trained and then sold her to a good home eventually. That filly did not exhibit any problems that I knew of. The other one who came off more recently I do not know anything about, as it was after I left.

Well that is the Jade that began here. I would like to know exactly how the "diagnosis" was made, what tests were done, what xrays and scans done to differentiate the process and possible outcome. It seems unusual for symptoms of OCD not to appear before now, especially during growth spurts, etc. Horses I have seen diagnosed with it were much younger and it showed up early on. There is actually feed now formulated especially for horses with OCD lesions, has she been put on it? Lots of questions...just wondering if Diane is following up as she always promised she would...

It seems she has followed up and apparently supports the breeding of unregistered rescue horses with diagnosed hereditary defects. Why am I not astounded? As Diane puts it:
"I am well aware of Jade's circumstances. What is going on with her is a private matter. I do not own Jade and trust her owner's judgement 100%. Jade was a private purchase by myself and was then rehomed to a very good owner. I am confident the right decision will be made for Jade."
WAY TO GO CBER! THAT'S WHAT WE WANT TO SEE IN RESCUES! WAY TO IMPROVE THE IMAGE OF RESCUE!
Is there any doubt why CBER isn't considered a real rescue? WWSD? (What would SAFE do?)
Wasn't Diane supposed to be IMPROVING cber's rep?

Yes, I guess Dianes definition of a "very good owner" is alot different than mine. I do not think a "very good owner" would give away a unsound, unregistered mare with a possible hereditary defect and promote that horse as a broodmare.
WWSD? They would of had an adoption contract and had the horse returned to them to take care of it properly. That is what any GOOD rescue would do.
