Hey everyone! I know, I've been absent. With the economy down work has been crazy - not crazy in a good way like the money is rolling in, just having to work twice as hard to hold on to what we've got because everyone is shopping for better insurance rates. At least 98% of the time though, they can't do better than our companies, which is great!
Nor Cal Equine Rescue, now Horse Plus Humane Society, had a cute little gelding on their Facebook page that they rescued off of a slaughter truck. He's got a very distinct & unique marking on his face, that sort of looks like CBER's Freddy Bear. I don't think it's him, but does anyone know where he ended up? Loved that little guy, and would like to know where he is now. Unfortunately, can't call up any of the old records any longer. And now, of course, I can't get him off of my mind.....

When did NorCal change their name? I don't keep up with their blog, so missed that one.

I think I remember that name, was that one of the horses that went to someone named Kay who they found out later was taking them to auction again? I may be wrong, but sounds familiar to me. Claiming he was not a safe kids horse? her screen name was something "bean"?

NOrCal has only just changed their name, this month. Jason and Tawny are going thru training to become licensed Animal Control Officers, so they wanted a more 'official' name.

No - Freddy Bear originally was supposed to come to California....Tracy. Right over the hill from me, which I was really excited about because if hubby would have let me I would have taken him myself. He was not one of the ones that went to Kay MacBEan, at least I don't think so. I think he ended up at Dean's maybe? I can't access any of the old boards to confirm......

I may be wrong as my memory has recently become similar to a sieve.....With that disclaimer, I'll say that I "think" Freddy Bear went to Kay. I also think there was some back lash over it as he was re-homed quickly. I can't say whether this was good or bad, but I do remember he got off the lot and someone gave him a chance

Yes, that is what I remember too. Then it was claimed she (kay) sold him at an auction, so not sure where the guy ended up???

Talked to Shelley and she sent me the info. Heidi is correct. Kay saved him, put some time and money into him and sold him at an auction with a minimum price of $1,000.

But didn't he come back into the fold after that? I remember he'd gone somewhere, and then came back and there was some drama over it.
Does anyone still have a picture of him, by any chance? Especially a head shot?

Karan emailed me and the info I posted earlier was actually for Ted E Bear, not Freddy Bear. I called him Fred E Bear when I inquired with Shelley, so that introduced some confusion. Karan suggested that Freddy Bear might have been adopted out to "Aimee". Perhaps he went to Aimee and then ended up back with CBER as Stacie remembers. Honestly, I don't remember. I do remember some "drama" attached to a "Bear" adoption. Not sure if it was Freddy or Ted E, but we had a bunch of applicants for him and he went to someone who intended to rehome. That's my recollection, not so great and not very helpful, I'm afraid. Sorry.

Found the info.....Freddy went to Aimee....CBER got him out of there and then Kay got him, and yes, sold him at auction. Still trying to find out where he went after that, hoping maybe she pursued that. Hoping he's safe and loved.
Do not think the gelding at NorCal is him. The stars are very, very similar in shape, but Freddy's sort of veered off toward his right eye more than this guys did.
