Greetings All,
It is with great sadness that I post this message to tell you all that Annika was put down at 4:05pm on 1/29/13.
She had been suffering from a problem with her hind quarters for some time and the degenerative process was advancing at an increasing rate.
Completely in character, she was chipper and sweet right up until the end.
Annie was one of the first horses I rescued, and to the best of my knowledge, outlived all of the elderly horses that were rescued by our group in that period of time.
While we wish she had stayed with us longer, she had an extra seven years, and we did our best to ensure they were good ones.
However, I want to use this as an opportunity to share some videos from the good times with her (which were many) and remember the grand lady that she was.
Almost every time we arrived we'd get an enthusiastic greeting, like this one:

Some of you may remember Zorba, who passed away a couple of years prior, and how much she liked to torment him by wandering off. You could often hear him hollering at the top of his lungs when he lost track of her.
Here's some footage of the two of them:

There are quite a few people I was unable to reach as I did not have their email address. If think you might know one of them, please forward this message.
Rest in peace, Annie, you will be sorely missed.
Amy and Ryan
