You are having too much fun, sitting on your bums, composing puns, without mentioning the buckskin who might actually be a dun!

Hey, better look on the site again. Some of those babies are no longer showing. My hubby, who holds the reins, is interested in "Nuetiegwa". REAL INTERESTED. But he is no longer posted. Emailed the adoption clerk tonight. Hopefully, for my husband, he is still available. If not, hope he went to a good home. That's saying a lot if my husband is willing and ready to make a road trip to Nevada just to get a horse. Just another hay burner, but worth the drive if available.

Well, the colt my husband so wanted had been adopted yesterday afternoon. a day late and a penny short . oh well. what is funny, is my husband made sure to email the clerk. If for what ever reason, the colt doesn't get picked up, he is to contact us. LOL Now to find another one my hubby just has to have.

They also have another section for Facility Photos...those horses are not available for auction bidding, but you can adopt one of them at any time...most of the ones I posted a few days ago came off the Palomino Valley, NV facility site...

I wanted to just make an observation about one of the facilities...the Internet Adoption Auction Bidding has a number of gelding listed in Ewing, IL...and if you look at those horses, you will see that most of the ones being auctioned online are older... 4-7 year olds...I hope that doesn't mean that those are third timers...Sex: Gelding Age: 7 Years Height (in hands): Necktag #: 1995 Date Captured: 12/11/02Color: Gray Captured: Owyhee (NV) Notes: #1995 - 7 year old gray gelding, captured in the Owyhee Herd Management Area, NV, in Dec 2002. Pick up options - Ewing, IL (by appointment). Think this poor guy has gotten any training at all, or has he just been shunted from one paddock to another for all these years? I think he's gorgeous...but he's been waiting so long for a home.

Heres the dealeo on the BLM Auctions.... These online auctions are for adoptable horses not the sale authority horses. If a horse isn't adopted from the internet auctions I am not sure if it gets a strike or not. I would assume yes, since the rider stated "offered" for adoption.. I would take that to mean hauled to an adoption event, or offered on line but this is just my thinking on it, not confirmed information. The horses in the onlne gallery I would hope were not getting a strike. If the horse is at PVC you can pick it up at PVC, Ewing IL is just an option. BLM corrals have been lookiong for ways to promote the animals without creating more 3 strikers. Instead of hauling a bunch of horses east not knowing i they will be adopted.. they are auctioning some and highlighting others with eastern and southern pick up points. Here in So Cal our corral doesn't have much online, but they do open on some saturdays and offer free delivery within 150 miles. In NV there is a mandantory brand inspection for all horses leaving the facility so normally you can't go pick up a horse and leave the same day. By choosing your horse ahead of time and completing the adoption they can have the brand inspection done and it will be ready to leave when you arrive. For those of you who are new to me ;D I will say again they gather Twin Peaks (Fatt Butt land) last year and there were 1000 horses split between Susanville, CA and Fallon, NV. We went to check out a place for Beth to take lessons yesterday and one of their other clients was there with a mustang with an impressive neck, no withers and a big fatt butt. He is a stang they rescued, and upon having his brand read discovered he was a Twin Peaks stang captured in 99. They have been told they are hard to find. (and they are hard to find here in So Cal) Here is a link to a gallery of Fatt Butt stangs from Ca HMAs www.mustangs4us.com/Adopt%20Section/california.htmAnd for those looking at The Wheeler Pass babies sorry no grown up pics posted but their are some posted from Nellis (Nevada Wild Horse Range) which is Chesters HMA. www.mustangs4us.com/Adopt%20Section/Lasvegasdistrict.htm

Hi! I just joined this BB and found this thread. I have been writing to the BLM folks, trying to get them to put every single horse and burro they have available anywhere, online for ppl to find. How can you adopt one if you don't know about it? This method has proven successful for PMU's and other rescues. Look at how many CBER has placed, using just the internet! I think the BLM is missing a big tool by not putting all of the horses and burros online. Here are some email addys if you want to write them and make this suggestion.
Email Don Glenn, the Group Manager for WHB, and tell him that the public does need to see photos of our inventory at each holding facility, Don_Glenn@wo.blm.gov
Karen Malloy 800 370-3936 Inet_Adoption@blm.gov
Also, Karen tells me that the horses that don't get auctioned online are shipped east, usually to IL, for adoption there. The Palomino Valley center told me not to worry about weanlings, they get adopted very quickly. No one at BLM has answered any questions about the three strikers and over ten year old horses who are at risk for slaughter. Don't know if being on the PV site puts them up to strike one, then the auction is strike two, then further attempts make that strike three, or what. If they can get all of the animals online, it will help place them, I have no doubt. They are well priced and are nice horses. For $125 you get shots, coggins, worming, freeze marking, and gelding. Look at the PMU horses that are comparable, and you pay at least $400 for a wild grade foal that has never had shots or been wormed or anything. Hauling home costs at least as much as the foal, and the mares are even more. In the last online auction they even had a cremello filly sell for around $300! A few weeks ago they had an absolutely stunning blue eyed buckskin sell in the online auction. The unusually colored ones have the best chance for homes, so I worry about those plain bays, browns and sorrels. But even palominos and blacks seem to not move well too, which surprised me. One of the auction babies that touched my heart was a palomino 2 year old colt that seems to have a pronounced parrot mouth. His eye is so kind and I just felt for him. I am glad he's off the range, and hope his chances are good for a home, that somehow, someone else will be touched by his sweet face and take him. My first horse was from BLM and he's a perfect kids' horse and was in the Portland Rose Parade for several years. He looks like an old style Morgan and is black. They can make great horses!

I rode Bronson today, took him out alone on a three hour trail ride, He did great!! And.. We rode to an arena that houses horses and a car load of horsie girls drove by and shouted what a beautiful horse I have, I of course shouted back "MUSTANG" haha My dream horses for the future are a Belgian Gelding and a BLM Mustang adopted from one of their adoptions. I have been photographing the Mustangs at adoption sites for three years now and there is another adoption in Turlock CA in March, So If any California girls are interested in a Mustang go see them in March... I have to say my Mustang is a sweet heart. And last year I saw about five Mustangs in a dressage schooling show do very well, It won't hurt to look...
